  • "I seen someone said that if u already married u just having a pretty princess dressup day. I was like really." I'm thinking this was a reference to TK, but it's hard to tell what she is saying.

I sure wish I had looked at their forums before I made my website at WW. I just liked their template options better than TK. Sheesh. I'm kind of embarrassed to be associated with that rag.

Kind of sounds like she's excited. Like she looking forward to her dress up day. Which I can get. Playing dress up is fun.
  • @jcbride2015 Thanks, I'm glad others get it!  I just love language.  It is so versatile and can be used so beautifully, it really is an art form, and I think it's unique because it is universal- not everyone paints or sculpts. Everyone uses language.

So it really weirds me out, and kinda makes me sad, that so many people just don't see the potential, and never bother to use language properly- These are your thoughts!  This is you!  How do you not care enough about expressing yourself to even bother being coherent?

    Also
Personally I find your swearing offensive and unnecessary. Why the rampage?
Thank you for giving me the perfect place to use this Gif:

  • I'm in love with this thread. I literally (and I DO mean literally) get high blood pressure when I read that stuff! Eeeek. I've always been a grammar nerd but I HATE HATE HATE to hear/see people who just clearly do not care. As a side note, I feel sad and actually a little forgiving when I know for other reasons that they were never afforded the opportunity to learn these things. HOWEVER, that does not count people who though English class was "to boaring"

    I chuckled at this:

"Well I've gotten chewed a few times on here, actually some within the last few days, because I wanted to ask my bridal party to cover their tattoos and take out facial piercings. I guess I'm rude, since that's what I was told, which I felt was rude to say in the first place."

"@His #1 Lady asking someone to take out they facial piercing isnt wrong to do bec its photos been taking. All they can do is agree or disagree. Some of everyone have tattoos but i understand what u is saying. Its up to your girls to agree or disagree."

I have thought once or twice about getting a WW account for the entertainment value.  But all of this terrible advice aside, I just can't handle the shitty grammar and spelling.  I get that everybody has a typo on the internet now and again.  But many of these commenters seem to be lacking basic writing skills and it makes my skin crawl.

Yeah, there is a huge difference between autocorrect being an ass or having a bunch of typos, and simply not being able to form a coherent sentence.  I don't even really care when people spell stuff wrong, or abbreviate stuff, as long as they can form a sentence around the error.

But shit like the bolded is just too much.  Come on, you really don't fucking know how to say "photos are being taken," or "They will be in photos," what the fuck is "Its photos been taken????"  And fucking up there they're and their is annoying enough (THIS IS GRADE SCHOOL SHIT PEOPLE!!!!!) but now THEY is being thrown into that mix?  What the fuck!!!  How do you even get through life with such an inability to even form simple sentences????

I judge that shit hardcore.  Again, I'm a total spaz while typing so I totally get having typos and end up with typos all the time.  But at least I know how a fucking sentence works.  When someone writes like that, I disregard what they said, and I don't feel bad about it.

Verbal and written language is absolutely essential to expressing our thoughts and emotions.  This is how we get those thoughts in our head to be understood by others.  To me, giving no thought to how you use written or spoken language is like using sign language, only you don't really feel like moving your fingers around, that's too much effort.  Just flicking your wrists will do, they'll get what you mean.  Well if you won't give any thought to how you express yourself, I will give no thought to what you are trying to express.

@Haileydancingbear I fully support your grammar rage.  Rage on.

ETA: I particularly agree with the bolded.  Language is how we translate our thoughts and feelings into something that other people can understand.  When you make no effort to be understood correctly by others, I will assume you aren't interested in communicating with me.  And you seem like you haven't really thought out what you are trying to say, so I won't take you seriously.  This is true IRL too-- if you send me an email full of incorrect grammar and you slapdash it together, I'm definitely thinking that whatever you're saying to me isn't that important.

I was an English teacher so I also hate the phrase, "This is the Internet, not your English class!"  Your English teacher taught you communication skill so you could go out into the world and express yourself.

You just gave my English teacher heart the warm fuzzies :) My program teaches writing by purpose, audience, and genre. We do blog posts and even Tweets, in addition to the traditional academic essay. You can use different levels of formality and even slang at times, but I always expect students to read things over and make sure it's something they're proud of putting their names to before submitting it. An emoticon might be OK in some genres, but not bothering to use spell check is never OK in any genre, for an audience. Not even on WW.
