Question about Destination Wedding- Reception When we Return

Hi all! We are getting married in Las Vegas in September and wanted to have a low key reception when we get back.  However, we are paying for everything ourselves and funds are limited.  Is it ok to have a reception in the Spring (more like cookout weather) than October when we get home? Or do we need to have it as soon as we get back? Thank you!

I think you should just have a fun cookout in the spring and invite lots of people. Don't make it a reception or wedding related.

What misshart said.  Just have a cookout because you want to hang out with the people you love. Do not make it anyway wedding related.  Just have a fun party.

Is there a reason why you feel that you have to have a party when you get home?

Just have a party at some point in the spring, but don't bill it as a reception- no wedding dress, no cake cutting, spotlight dances, etc.

I think having your wedding pictures out in case someone wants to see them is fine.

I think you'd be fine to have something in the spring. But, unless you live where it gets very cold in October, there's a lot to be said for a fall bonfire/hayride type thing, which would make a pretty awesome AHR. You can roast weenies and marshmallows and have chips and dip, salads, cupcakes, etc, or cater in fall type foods, either way.

All very good points! Thank you so much for your help! I had put it out of my mind until Spring (to recoup funds and such), but my fiance thought that people wouldn't want to come if we put it off for a couple of months- So I added it back to our plate.  However, I just don't see how we can afford it!  I am definitely open to any and all feedback Have a great day!
