I feel stupid

OK I'm starting to think I let all the wedding planning take over my life for the past year. Ever since we got back yesterday I have felt so depressed and have been crying on and off. I searched the knot and there have been Posts with the same issue. I'm so happy to be married I just feel sad I'm not sure why. I just hope it passes soon!

Don't feel stupid!  What you're experiencing is very common. It will get better!

I hate this feeling. I keep reading how it's normal but I still don't feel like I should be so blue. You would think I just broke up with my husband by the way I'm feeling. I can't even look at pics without wanting to cry! I just want to get over this stage! I am just so used to spending my days doing wedding related things I feel like I have nothing going to look forward to. My husband said we will plan another trip for august and to keep myself busy planning for that, he actually told me this today after I started crying telling him how I'm feeling. I felt so embarrassed to tell him! Who crys after their wedding?? Ugh so weird!

It's totally normal, I think there's a whole board devoted to it. You can always live vicariously through all the new Knotties too. :-)

I think you should take his advice and plan your first trip as a married couple. August is right around the corner! Maybe another trip to Vegas?! Or a trip to the Caribbean... BTW, you looked beautiful on your wedding day.

Yes! We will definitely be going to Vegas either last week of July or first week of August! And will be staying at Flamingo since that's, where we got married and didn't stay there this last time. @laurengarciakrueger Thank you!

Don't feel stupid!  I totally cried as we pulled away from the Mirage yesterday!  It was such a great week, I was just so sad it was over.  I'm okay now that we are home, but things have been pretty crazy so I haven't had much time to think about it.

Love the idea of starting to plan your next trip!  We already have a list of things that we didn't get to this trip!

Katie I did the same thing when we left Monday night! It was such a perfect few, days I hate that it ended so fast! I know exactly how you felt. I was home all day yesterday I think that made it hard just being home with everything we brought back. We're out today so I'm feeling better :)

Yup, I too had the blues when we left.  We drove back to LA and I remember watching the Vegas skyline get smaller and smaller in the rear vision mirror and was sad to be leaving.  Before we left I was spending so much time online researching and reviewing, so when we get home I had all this spare time, I didn't know what to do with myself.
It gets better with time though and it's exciting that you have another trip to plan for!!  :-)

@samiam125 that is me exactly. I don't work so I'm finding myself with nothing left to do now that the wedding is over. Right now I'm keeping focused on continuing with my weight loss to be ready for our next trip :) I just hope it gets better soon. If I'm out busy I feel better it's when I'm home that I get all blue. Thanks for your input :)

One thing that cheered me up was buying a couple of those photo frames that holds multiple photos and deciding what photos to put in there and then getting them up.  I still love walking past the frames and seeing those special moments :-)

I've had my blue moments too, so it's great to hear about everyone else's experiences. It's very hard to go from being in such a fun filled place surrounded by all of your favourite people and having one big massive party to being back home and having your normal routine to get back into, especially when it means time alone - it's from one extreme to another!

Having worked in mental health I know how good distraction is for taking your mind away from negative thoughts so planning upcoming trips is something we are doing too (just a shame we can't go back to Vegas like some of you guys!). Planning them together as a married couple makes this extra special too. But also trying to focus on how lucky we are and the positive things about being married now, like the little butterflies I get in my stomach when I call him my husband :)

Finally, another thing I find useful is to identify the bits about your wedding trip that were the most enjoyable to you and trying to fit that into everyday life where possible. We're arranging lots of individual meet ups with the people who came to Vegas with us to reminisce and look at photos, we're arranging regular dinner dates just the two of us as we really miss the eating out part of our trip, little bits and pieces like that. Plus the tropical air freshener I posted about on Facebook that makes our apartment smell like the TI and Mirage casinos!

    Hope that helps!

Jemma, good to know I'm not the only one! And I agree about the dinner dates we are going to ms just enough this an every other week thing for us. Also we got tons of movie theater and restaurant gift cards so we plan on using those too. And I love that idea you posted about the air freshener! I'm going to buy one too since we had a great time at mirage gambling for the first time :) Thank you!

Nawww @Valerie I hope you cheer up soon. Im feeling the complete opposite at the moment - but probably because I got myself so stressed before the wedding I was glad it was over. I love being married. Cant believe its almost been a month! Time is flying outta control. Pretty soon we will be old married women. Our next trip to Vegas is a long way away - but we will definitely go back.
