So this happened... [nwr] [pip]

I'm a Mini Cooper owner (well...leasee)!

I've been wanting one for YEARS and it finally happened. <3

What's your (reasonable...or not) dream car?

  • Minis are SO cute!!! Congrats on the new car!

My dream car would have to be a BMW 5 series sedan. I have a 40 minute commute (one way) to work and would've love to have a really nice car to drive every day. I also want a Beetle again. I had one when I was 19 and totaled it :( it was the cutest car ever and so much fun to drive.

Mini's are cute-- the auto shop owner in me will say though to keep up on its maintenance!  Other than that my dream car is a Lexus. Congrats and have fun with your new car!

  • A sleek black SUV. I have no idea why, I just think they look beautiful and so shiny!

Routine maintenance is covered for 3 years/30,000 miles (plus they have free coffee, cookies, and fruit at the dealership, and I get free car washes... Lots of excuses to go in in a timely manner for stuff!).
  • Yay for new cars!! I'm jealous! Large Marge the mini(van;) is getting very tired and I dream of a new car, hopefully sooner rather than later. One of the perks of FI's job is that he gets to swap his car out every month for a new ones so at least I get to live vicariously through that on weekends.

Have fun in your new ride :)

  • LOVE your new mini!!  Enjoy it!

My FILs have Acuras- MIL has the RDX I love it.  Every time we visit and FI and I take it out, I make him promise we can get one.

  • Love it. I want a mini or a smart car (parking, people, the parking!). My mom has this great little Honda hybrid that I also covet. They don't make them anymore, so I'm going to have to steal my mom's.

I would love a Buick Enclave, they have the third row seating... I'm not too sure why I want that much room but I do :)

  • Ahhhhh! That's what I want, too @BreMR!

  • My dream car is a 1969 Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car - convertible with a 396. Considering the ones in good shape that I've seen end up being auctioned for 75k+, the likelihood of me owning one is pretty slim! lol

  • I love it!!
I always wanted a Mercedes E320, when I was buying a new car 2 years ago I was going to finally get one, and FI (BF at the time) kind of talked me out of it, saying to get a mid range price car so we have money for a wedding, house ect.  It made much more sense, if I was still single I would have bought it.

Audi s8! Love them because Jason Statham drove one in the Transporter!!!
  • Is it weird that I don't have a dream car?  I really don't.  My current car is a 2006 Nissan Sentra with a big dent in the back bumper because somebody hit my car while it was parked on the street.  That car has been sideswiped, broken into about three times, and been from Florida to Massachusetts and back several times.  It's totally paid off and the insurance is cheap.  I plan to drive it into the ground.

I think my dream car is really NO car.  I would love to get rid of having a car totally and just take public transportation everywhere.  But we can't do that yet because all our parents live too far away and we need to drive to visit them.  As it is, I drive about once a week if that.

My Beetle was my favorite car that I've owned. It drove amazingly well and it was fun, little and peppy. The only problem - not the best car for western NY winters. I should've put studded snow tires on it and that would've saved it. But other than that, it was awesome on gas mileage and just so much fun.
  • @jcbride2015 I'd love to live in an area where I didn't have to have a car. Between the car payment; gas, maintenance and insurance - it's too much. If I could rely on public transit every day, I'd gladly get rid of my car. Or even just keep one car between FI and I.

I feel you @jcbride2015. I currently drive FI's big Ford 500 to work daily- a 10 mile commute that takes about 45 minutes. I hate pretty much every minute of it.

They've been working on expanding the metro out to where I work and it's supposed to be open by the end of the summer (only a year late). I will be so happy when the only place I have to drive that sucker is to the grocery store!

Yeah, when we moved to our current city Fi sold his car.  Every once in a while it's an inconvenience (ex. this Sunday I have work, but he needs to see family in Brooklyn), but we can work around it.  Having our car insurance and maintenance cut more than in half, plus the lump of money Fi got from selling the car, was fantastic.

  • YAY for the new mini

When I was in my late-20's my dream car was  a BMW convertible.    Then I moved to the islands and that desire went away (totally not practical down there).   These days I really don't have a dream car.  I have zero emotional attachment to cars anymore.  It's weird, considering we have a brand new car.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Congratulations! I considered getting a mini too, and they are really cute! My dream car would be an Audi R8 convertible! I would also take a hard roof version though if someone were to give one to me!

  • I just dropped another $700 fixing my old POS car so I'm totally dreaming of a new one right now. I want something small and red... I love the new Fiats.
  • I \want a VW Bug. A late 60s one.
  • I have a VW Touareg with the diesel engine. It's nice, hauls everything for work, bounds through snow, fun to drive. Expensive little bugger, but so nice.

I drove a Mazda Miata for a bit while my old car was in the shop and I loved it! It ws so low to the ground that I could almost touch it while sitting in the car. Probably not too safe but so much fun to drive!

@princessofhavoc  I have a VW Jetta.  I still have another year left on my lease.  I like the VW suvs but (online) the trunk space looks so small!

  • I will keep my 06 Kia Spectra. I love her to death. She is perfect for cruising around town, my daily commuter, I can fit the dog in the back seat... I love my car. FI is going to trade in his car after the wedding (01 Pontiac Grand AM..2 door PITA) for either a Kia Forte or a Sportage so that we have a larger vehicle for running the dog around, or the nephew...

  • When we are ready for a family (so probably after my lease is up in three years) I will probably consider a VW Jetta or a Kia. They are just SO cute (while still being practical).
