No nursing school for this girl.

So I just found out today that I've gotten rejected from nursing school, so I'm pretty bummed out.

The good news is that I don't have to wait a full year to reapply and because I didn't get in now, I'm not going to have to juggle wedding planning and my first semester of nursing school.

I know things could be way worse, so I have no right complaining- but thanks for letting me have my (mini) vent. :)

  • Aww I'm so sorry. (((hugs))) what a bummer. I don't really have any words of wisdom, but that is really tough. Have a glass of wine tonight and hug your fiancee.

  • I'm so sorry!  That really sucks.  Hope your wedding planning goes smoothly and you have better luck when you reapply.

  • I'm so sorry! Getting into nursing programs is so competitive anymore! It really is dog-eat-dog. I wish you luck when you apply again. For now enjoy a nice glass of wine and do something that makes you happy when you get home tonight.

Hugs! From my students who are preparing to apply, I've gotten that nursing school is insanely, ridiculously competitive so I wouldn't take it personally--still hurts though! But you will be less stressed with wedding planning and eventually you'll be a caring, dedicated nurse which we very much need more of. I just got done with surgery and now going through chemo treatments that are solely handled by nurses so I would really, really appreciate someone like you who is so motivated to reapply.

If you have someone you could talk to, especially a recent alum of the school, who might know how to give your application materials just a little extra push, that might help too. Or even someone who is good at wordy things to read your letter of interest if the app requires that.
  • I'm sorry.

    Good luck next time.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Thanks everyone! :)

My pity party is pretty much over now, and it's really the kick in the pants that I needed to really work on getting into this program.

  • I'm sorry! Good luck next time, and like you said, now you don't have to juggle school and wedding planning.

When I applied to business school the first time, I got rejected :/ I took the GMAT again, and reapplied for the following semester, and made it in.

  • Fellow nursing student here!  I'm sorry that you didn't make this round, but absolutely reapply.  I retook a couple of my core classes to boost my GPA and retook the HESE as well.  Made it on the second application, so you can too!

    Good luck!
  • I'm sorry. Vibes for good luck next time!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Oh, and I also wanted to tell you that I got rejected from from the PhD program at the exact SAME school and department where I got my master's. They friggin' knew me! They never gave me anything but As and encouraged me to apply to the PhD program! And they STILL rejected me! That stung hard. But, I got into another great program with an even better financial aid package, found a fantastic advisor, and also met my FI--which never would have happened if I'd been accepted to my first choice.

Anyway. Just wanted to share that to put things in perspective because I've been there. And if you wanted to extend your pity party with a margarita or two, I wouldn't judge ;)

Funny how things work out like that when life throws you curve balls. :) I have a very similar story.

I'm sorry. I'm applying June 1 and don't have a great feeling about it. Nursing schools have just gotten crazy. Most schools give some favor to people that have applied before so I'm sure it'll be better next time!
