Flower petals without a flower girl?

I have two or three nieces who are the right age to be flower girls (depending on what "the right age" is). The thing is, though, I don't particularly want flower girls. Both because even one seems like too much extra hassle in general and because I feel like I'd have to ask all three of them so as not to hurt anyone's feelings.

I was totally fine with that decision until I woke up one day and said -- wait ... how do I get flower petals on the aisle without flower girls? (Because I do really like the idea of walking down on flower petals.)

Any ideas on how to have flower petals without having the girls? :\

  • (Sorry for all the duplicate posts -- it kept giving me an error message, but apparently it was going through anyway)

A staff person at the ceremony venue could pre-scatter them on the aisle, or you could use a runner that had the petals painted on (if anything like that exists).
  • Have the petals pre-scattered by venue staff or your florist.  To prevent people from walking on them you can tie a ribbon from one side of the aisle to the other and you guests will enter into the pews/seats from the sides.

Find out if the venue even allows flower petals.  Ours didn't.

You could make something like this out of cheap fabric and fake petals. Or two thinner runners along the sides of the aisle. I'm making one in swirly shapes.

  •  I had a flower girl and she did not even throw the petals... the florist already had them set up on the aisle.  Breathe...and relax... you can have petals on your aisle without a flower girl dropping them.  Ditto confirming your venue allows the petals.  If yes, you can either use real ones from a florist, or craft stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc have fake ones in a variety of colors.
