NWR: HS Graduation

So, I called my cousin last night to find out if he wanted anything in particular for graduation especially since he'll be living in a dorm come fall. His oh-so-eloquent response: "I know I'm suppose to say it differently but cash would be awesome." I laughed a lot and rolled my eyes before informing him the polite way to phrase it is "I don't need anything in particular but am saving for X". *sigh* Teenagers.

  • I love it! He clearly thinks you're the cool cousin if he's willing to be upfront with you!

I tend to give gift cards to restaurants in the college town. I've also used it for national chains that have locations there. It sounds silly but it's so nice to have food options when you're out of cash. Plus, it seems very thoughtful, even if it's easy.

So not silly! I would have LOVED this in college. I remember one time FI and I were starving. We had no money (having spent our work study money on booze and take out, of course), and it was too late for the meal swipe. A gift card would have definitely come in handy!

  • Hey at least he knew there was probably a better way to say it! Even if he couldn't remember what that way was.

I remember I got luggage and a lot of cash. I joked that my family was finally helping me runaway.
