April 2012 Weddings

No Life for Me Begins Now!

So for the next 8 weeks, my schedule will be as follows:

Sundays- 2-9 shift at Quiktrip (gas station)
MWF- Paralegal class 9am-4pm
TR-Internship at a law firm in Atlanta 8:30-3 or 4
Saturdays- Off, but occasionally will have WR stuff like dress fittings, and I have 2 mandatory Sat classes for my paralegal program.

Let the fun begin! I'm so glad I already got my invitations addressed, favors done, etc because I won't have time to do a lot of WR stuff, other than mailing checks and whatnot, until April.

OH, but I DO have my boudoir/pin up girl photoshoot on Valentine's day, so I won't be interning that day, and FI and I will probably go out to eat.

Re: No Life for Me Begins Now!

  • Glad you're on a roll with WR to-do's, and it sounds like your hard work with your class and internship will be worth it in the long run.  I've been working in law offices for nine years now and love it (at least, most of the time :-))  Hope you have an awesome Valentine's Day and your fiance loves the pictures!

  • I do not envy your schedule.
Although I work M-F so it's kind of similar...but at least I always have S-S off.

  • Megan, yeah I am liking it so far! What kind of firm do you work for? They just have me doing grunt work mostly, like filing, copying and faxing, but I am getting to make a few phone calls to clients and to hospital records/billing departments to get the documents we need.

It's a personal injury firm, which I kind of have a calling for because my grandfather died in car accident. I can empathize with the clients about how long the process takes and I know what they are going through.

  • Rardito, I'm hoping that all of this will pay off here in the next few months! Another lady at my firm said she interned for 6 months before being offered a full time job, so it could be a long road. And the firm is far from FI's house where we will be living. I'm hoping maybe I can find something closer and just get some good experience at the place I'm at now.

  • Erica, I work for a defense firm.  So kind of on the opposite side LOL.  But it sounds like it really suits you to work with personal injury clients because you can give them the empathy they're looking for.  More power to you, I don't have the patience to work with plaintiffs :-)

  • That's interesting! So what does your day to day entail? Give me a rough break down. Just trying to understand/get familiar with various types of law and what all goes down, because I am not set on working in personal injury. I do have the personal appeal but it's not like a must do, you know? I'll work where the work is, and from what I hear personal injury is doing well now. I also know bankruptcy is an in demand area, as is ligitation.
