When FI and I first announced we were getting married in Vegas everyone said they'll be there, wouldn't miss it, so excited, etc. people even invited themselves!!! so we made our plans based on app. that number of people. Now we are getting RSVPs back and the majority are NOs! Invited 54 and it looks like we might end up with only 25. (Still a few people up in the air) We might not make the F&B minimum at the restaurant and will lose 50% of our deposit if we cancel now. Was I being completely naive? Honestly I was expecting about 30-40 to come. So frustrated!

I am so sorry to hear that. We had to upgrade the ceremony venue because of how many people jumped on the bandwagon but in the end i fear we might not have had to. Ive been worried about deposits on f and b too so have been delaying but i will be running out of the nicer options soon. Hope the place you picked will have some sympathy and find a way to save you losing all that money. It is worth asking for anything they can do and being sweetly persistent and hope it can work out in your favour.

oh wow, I'm sorry that you've had so many people drop out. I am hpoing we have a few that drop off but we still still reach the minimum of 50 ppl!

Look at the positive; now you can upgrade your food and beverage order for those that do come and make things even better so you hit your minimum.  When our restaurant budget came in well below what I expected, we added champagne to the open bar and swapped out steak with bison.

VG is correct. You can upgrade your food and beverage to hit the minimum. If you switch from beer & wine to premium liquor, for example, that adds up FAST. You could also add a couple more appetizers.

Which restaurant are you using? Some places, like Maggiano's, will count things like your cake and flowers toward your minimum if you use one of their preferred vendors.
