Booking engagement session!

FI and I decided it's time for our engagement shoot. There's a local photographer that we love their work (it's two women friends that double team.) We're going on Saturday to meet them in their studio and talk locations and get an idea for all of our personalities. So excited!

Any tips for questions to ask? Is there anything specific when talking engagement photos? She already gave us a price and it includes the disk of photos.

Can you have the .raw files for the photos (not just the jpegs)?

How many outfits should we wear?

    How long is the session?

What is the time frame we can expect our photos after our session?

I don't know. I didn't have many questions for my photographer because we had already contracted with her for wedding photos. I know I read some stuff on avoiding makeup with a ton of spf (like 20 + spf) because it reflects the camera flash and doesn't look good.

  • Our e-photo photographer is our wedding photographer so I didn't really have a ton of e-pic specific questions. I think I asked how far in advance should we do them (she suggested April/May) and the turnaround time and how many outfits.

  • yayyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!! That's so exciting!!!

@LaPeanut1018 has it covered!  Definitely important questions to ask. The contract should state almost everything you would want to know. I emailed our photographer photo ideas that I liked, mostly I found them on Pinterest or Google. FI and I did not want to look fake or posed, so we opted for more candid photos and gave our photographer a couple ideas of what we were wanting through those photos I emailed her.

What time of day do you prefer to shoot?
How many photos can we expect to receive?
Is there a limit to how many photos you will edit?

    ETA Yay! Exciting!!!

  • @severmilli12 and @lalalaurita, When I called to make the appointment to come by the studio, she said they only shoot in the early evening to get the golden hour of light. They also specialize in NOT posing you hence why FI and I like them.

I need to write these down...

The golden hour is definitely the perfect time to shoot! Technically...there are two golden hours...when the sun is rising and when it is setting. ;) But either way...an evening shoot will be perfect! We did ours around 5:30 in mid-March and got gorgeous halos and highlighting from the sun as it was starting to set. It bathes everything in a golden light and it's absolutely gorgeous!
