Champagne dress, gray suits?

What are people's thoughts on having the men wear dove gray suits if my dress is champagne? It's quite embellished with lace and beading and subtle sparkle, if that matters at all. My thought process is, we're having an outdoor wedding at 5 pm in August (so, still very much daylight) with the reception to follow in a lovely lodge-like venue. It will be evening, but still rustic. I don't think tuxes are on point at all, but am I nuts to also think that black suits might be too formal-looking? 

If black is out, will gray be too cool against the warmer champagne? I feel like tan suits would be too "daytime" and navy blue ones might get ridiculous since I'm having the bridesmaids in navy. I'm leaning toward thinking it doesn't really matter if gray is cooler than champagne since they're both neutrals (plus gray looks nice with navy, too). Thoughts? Opinions? I'm happy to consider other options. The wedding isn't till 2015 so I have plenty of time to overthink stuff.

Champagne and grey are both neutral colors and will go with pretty much anything.

Also, I don't think that black suits are too formal, they are classic, but if you want a softer look then grey would be your better option.  And tan suits, eh, not that big a fan.

I think either grey or black would be great options, especially if the guys need to buy them because then they will get the most use out of those colors then anything else.

Thanks, @Maggie0829. I'm probably being a weirdo about the black but what can I say--FI's blue eyes really pop in gray.

Our BM dresses are champagne with an ivory lace overlay and we're pairing them with gray suits/vests and a champagne tie. I think it'll look nice! My FI has blue/green eyes and I love the grey with it too!

My dress is champagne with an ivory lace overlay, and we're doing grey suits for the guys. The grey is a little warmer of a grey though, versus some of the cooler greys that almost had a blue tint to them. (Cambridge Grey signature suits from Jos. A Bank)

Yeah, ours are the grey version from the vera wang black collection. They're a lighter weight material for our outdoors summer wedding.
