Late Summer Wedding Cocktails: 08/08/15

Our wedding is on 08/08/15 in Ohio.  We are providing the liquor.  Any suggestions on a late summer cocktail?  I was thinking of his and her signature cocktails.  I like the idea of an apple pie on the rocks but feel that is more fall.  I also love margaritas!  Our dinner will be a buffet style pig roast.  I would like the cocktails to fit in with the food as well.

We will also provide beer, wine and other liquor for mixed drinks. Suggestions on standard liquors to have, whiskey, vodka, tequila, etc.

Thanks in advance!

  • Lemonade and firefly
    Sangria
Your favorite margarita, but I would suggest it be on the rocks rather then blended
    Mojito

Just keep whatever drinks you want light and citrusy

Summer cocktails are so easy! Some of my favorite easy-to-make cocktails are vodka + limeade (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm), vodka + lemonade + iced tea (spiked AP, holla!), & grapefruit margaritas (because tequila!).

I also love Blue Moon + OJ + peach schnapps. Heaven!

  • Ditto the sweet tea vodka and lemonade... or white sangria. I make a mean one with chardonnay, blueberry vodka, peach schnapps and lemonade. Yum. Peaches, blueberries and grapes should all be in season then (aka cheap) so you can put loads of fresh ones in it. Eating the boozy fruit is the best part!

It's this recipe, but I use about 1/2 cup blueberry vodka and 1/4 cup peach schnapps instead of the 3/4 cup peach vodka. And then make like a quadruple batch

We did summer sangria (LINK), gin and tonics, and dark n stormies (ginger beer and dark rum) at our late-summer pig roast wedding.

We are doing Moscow mules for our signature cocktail at our October wedding: vodka, lime, and ginger beer. It'd be refreshing for a summer reception too. Or even for spring. Or January. Or right now. All these replies are making me want to start happy early :P
