Diamond Candles

Has anyone heard of these. They are candles that once they've burned down have a ring valued between 10 and 5000 dollars.

Re: Diamond Candles

  • One of my friends is obsessed with them, a few other have bought 1-2.

All the jewelry I've seen from them are quite ugly. :/
  • Well, I like candles, so I figure the ring is a bonus. If it's ugly, I'll just throw it away.

  • I have seen these advertised but I feel it's like buying a lottery ticket.  I wouldn't buy it just for the hopes of getting a diamond ring, but you never know.

And I love candles too.  I would buy it if the price was right and it smelled good!

  • I bought one of these for my mom. It smelled nice and it burned pretty evenly. I think the ring in hers was like $50 ring. It was kind of ugly but she was able to sell it. I think it is a cute novelty item for gifts but I can't see repeatedly buying them for people.

I loved the candle H got me. The ring wasn't worth anything, but it's cute and I wear it occasionally. His coworker got one valued at $2500.
  • I want to try one but I didn't see that they offered half sizes.

  • The one's that I've smelled do smell really well. The quality of the scented candle is actually very good. So I suppose instead of buying something from, like, Yankee Candle you could get a Diamond Candle that similar quality and you get a surprise! Seems good enough to me!
  • I heard that they only put rings in that are worth 100 or less.....if it's worth more than that you get like a coupon in the candle instead of a ring to go online and pick a ring at a certain price point
  • I got one for my mom a few years ago for mother's day.  She loved the candle and loved that there was ring inside also.  She likes fun costume jewelry like that.

  • Okay I went PSYCHO on one of these candles. LOL. My ring was at the very bottom, in the Florida heat it had melted all the way down. Technically they are supposed to be about an inch below the surface. I ripped that candle to shreds, I was burning it with fire and digging it out, I had a paper plate full of candle, a bowl full of candle, I had CRAZY face on. My husband was shooting pictures of me without my knowledge. I went flat out whacko. When I finally got the ring, like 3 hours and 15 bursted blood vessels later, it was fake but very very beautiful.

  • Iloveotters, nope it's always a ring, never a coupon. There is a special code at the bottom so if a candle were to be stolen from a store it is insured.

Sorry My bad. "Jewel Scents" which does the same thing as Diamond Candles does the coupon thing. They never put anything over 100 in the actual candle.

I have seen nothing but ugly rings come out of these candles. This whole concept makes me shake my head.

Buy a Yankee Candle and a lottery ticket; the odds are better.

  • I bought one, not a fan of the ring that came out (But my little sister was more than happy to take it off my hands) but the candle itself was AWESOME.  I got the honeysuckle and not only did that smell great, it was one of those candles you light and it just makes the whole room smell heavenly.

I find that sometimes I buy scented  candles and when I light them, I can only smell them if I'm right next to them.  This thing fills the whole room with its scent.  When I have any cash to burn I am totally buying another, I actually burned through the whole thing, which never happens, usually I get sick of the candle or it's not smelly enough so I don't bother lighting it.

So IMO it's like a lottery ticket and I will probably never find anything valuable in these things.  But they are a LOVELY quality candle, and even if I don't end up with something valuable the surprise inside is still fun!  So I think it's a win-win.  Either way I get a great product that I enjoy using, and if I'm super lucky I could get something really cool in it.

As for Jewelscent vs. diamond candle, I liked the candle from diamond candle better.  The jewelscent one wasn't as potent, it was one of those candles you kinda have to be near to smell.  I do prefer the whole coupon idea though, that way you can tell for certain that you won something valuable, and can know what the value is.  Also the soap I got from Jewelscent was really nice.

I'm glad to hear that the candle itself is good quality. My old roommate bought one and the ring she got was the one of the ugliest things I've ever seen.
  • I think they are fun gift ideas. I wouldn't mind getting one. I wouldn't buy one for myself though.

  • I got one.  I have a coconut scent candle.  I love the candle.  The ring I got was one of their $5 ones I think.  It was okay.  It was a square cut green "gemstone" on silver, or whatever they use.  Didn't fit me very well, or I probably would have worn it more often.  I tried giving it away, but no one really wanted it so now it sits in a drawer.  But the candle is nice, and I do enjoy it.  I might get another with a different scent once this one is done. :)
