Wedding gift... have you heard of this?

Re: Wedding gift... have you heard of this?

  • I swear some people think technology is always the way to go without thinking.    Giving PayPal a fee to accept money for personal reasons is just stupid.  No wonder some people are always broke and need to solicit money from others, they pay all these unnecessary fees.

Maybe I'm just old and cheap.    Just the other day I refused to deposit a check electronically because it costs 50 cents.   I just waited a day and deposited the check at the bank for free.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's all technology, I just do not think EVERYTHING needs to be reinvented.    People have been giving cash/checks for many, many years now.   PayPal or similar companies are tacky and costs money.   The old fashion way worked just fine and you get to keep more money.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • As an early twenties woman who thinks computers are hard, I'd look at online RSVPs like

And WHY WOULD YOU POST YOUR BANK INFO. Dear GOD

  • I just had a little revelation. Maybe this couple put their bank account numbers out there so that someone will buy them a year of LifeLock? Like, here, let's compromise our own info so that someone will realize how dumb we are, and they buy us a subscription for LifeLock.

I'm a web developer, and as much as I've enjoyed building random crap on my website that no one will look at (photos pulled from instagram!), I'm smart enough to know that while I'm super tech savvy, not everyone else is. We'll use normal RSVP cards (and Google docs to track them) because I can't deal with the repercussions if something online crashes. There's no guarantee that something I write (or a plug in I find) will be bug free.
The USPS has been pretty damn buggy as of the past few years...
