"Head Table" Number or No Number?

We aren't doing a traditional long head table because we have different numbers of bridesmaids and groomsman and we want them all to be able to sit with their significant others. Instead my fiance and I plan on sitting at a normal round table with our parents and his grandmother. Our bridal party and their significant others will be seated at the two nearest round tables. Our "head table" will be in the middle along the short side of the dance floor with the rest of the tables arranged along the long side of the dance floor. In this instance should our table be labeled "Table 1"? I know you don't usually give a number to the head table but since it will be the same size and shape as the rest of the tables but I don't want to confuse anyone.

Re: "Head Table" Number or No Number?

  • Is there anyway to label your table "Head Table"?

I'm probably not numbering our table simply because I ran out of number 1 stickers, so unless I can figure out another option to make a number 12, I'll just not number ours. Are you doing a seating chart or table assignments? If so, I doubt others would be overly confused and you're probably safe not numbering yours as long as those sitting at your table are aware of its location.

  • We are just doing table assignments with placecards, no seating chart.

If there's no chart, how will people know which table at which to find their place card? Will they have to roam around and look at every seat to find theirs? Please reconsider this.

FI and I are sitting at a long table with MOH/her BF, BM/his wife. The rest of the wedding party will be at 2 round tables. Ours will be sort of an honorary "table 1" but not actually have a number on it. It'll look different than the rest; nobody will get confused and try to sit there.

I think she means escort cards (assuming they will have table numbers printed on them), which is fine to do without a seating chart as long as the table numbers are easy to see.

  • Our "head" table is a normal round table with a normal number.
  • Oups sorry, I did mean escort cards. Wedding jargon still gets me sometimes.

Thanks everyone! I think I will put a number on it just because it looks exactly like the other tables.

I think this is a non issue. Our situation was teh exact same as yours. I think it was labeled table 8 since that is where is fell in numerical order.
