Invitations

I am wondering what is the proper way to address the inivtes? I understand and have read how to address the names, but what about the street address? is it more formal to write out the number? which below would be correct? Does is make a difference?

845 main street

eight four five main street

eight hundred fourty five main street

Thanks!

    845 Main Street

Capitalize the words Main and Street.

When you're addressing invitations, it's more important that the post office can read the address. So just write out "845 Main Street."

  • Regardless of how fancy the auto reader may be (and it likely isn't in smaller towns), final sort is done by hand. The carrier for the route will hand sort to each individual address. If they can't read it, it will likely get delivered to the wrong place.

Some of the post office workers in my area are ... well, let's just say I regret going to one branch in particular to mail my state tax return.
