:D

I am going to wear a pencil skirt with a blouse and low heels. However, I am debating pantyhose. I think I should still wear them, but every woman I saw there was fairly young with a cute little business outfit on. I even saw a few pairs of heels that were 4-5 inches. At work. I am wondering if I shouldn't wear pantyhose? I am worried about looking frumpy compared to them, now. I don't know who my interviewer is this time, so I can't judge how the interviewer would think of dress clothes. My skirt comes all the way to my knees, so there is no chance of me showing too much. I have no idea about pantyhose because I literally never wear them ever. Not since I was still being dressed by my mom. Help.

Ever article I googled either said pantyhose are out and make you look like great aunt marge, or pantyhose are still needed and you have to wear them.

Re: Second Interview today!!

  • Congrats on the second interview! My fingers will be crossed for you!

As far as pantyhose - my vote is to go without them. I've never worn pantyhose for any job interview (I work for an insurance broker that's part of a fairly large financial company) and it didn't make me look any less professional. In fact, I rarely see anyone around here wearing pantyhose unless they are 55+. My boss (mid 30s) wears them occasionally because she says her legs are too pasty not to! If it's a younger office crowd, I think you'll be fine skipping the hose.

  • I saw about 6 of the people who worked there. Not a single one was over the age of 35 and every single one was hot and they dressed really cute. It was sorta creepy.

  • If you have time beforehand, get some of that Sally Hansen spray on leg makeup. Shit is amazing. Makes your legs look fab with no nylons.

  • Good luck!!!!!

    Personally I'd skip the pantyhose.
  • I hate pantyhose. Skip 'em.

  • Good luck!

Skip the pantyhose. You'll be so uncomfortable you won't be able to stand it.

  • Perfect. Pantyhose will be returned to the store.

  • The person who invented pantyhose was a sadist and a tool of the patriarchy! Down with pantyhose!

...I've no idea if that's true but I just really hate hose.

  • I am the only person on TK who ever argues for pantyhose, I really am.

And even I will concede that there are times when they're not necessary. This might be one of them.

HisGirl, I argue for pantyhose too. I'm just not always around! I was taught that you wear them for business events and interviews if you are wearing a skirt/dress.

I always wear them for interviews because they look me professional. But, I think knowing your crowd is important too. So I would go without in this case.

What type of industry is this?  For my job, I wear them everyday.  We seriously side eye those who don't. . . . but in my line of work, suit and pantyhose are expected every single day.

Sounds like the team I work on (except for the not over 35 part). All of them gorgeous and impeccably dressed. A sales exec at my old job made a comment one time that my boss must only hire pretty women to work here. Creepy comment and it's totally coincidental.

It's a business consulting place. It contracts for a few different places, I would be working with a non-profit working on getting and keeping donors.

That is sort of what I was thinking but when I was sitting there waiting it looked like everyone was very capable. There were equal parts men and women, and everyone good looking. Not many knew how to dress, though. A guy was wearing a too-tight wrinkled suit and two of the girls were wearing 5 inch heels that probably belonged in a club.
