What are you excited/not excited about?

edited May 2014 in Chit Chat
So excited! My husband and I just booked our anniversary trip to San Diego! We're going to lay by the pool, explore the city and go on a diner/dance cruise on the night of our actual anniversary!

What is everyone else excited about in the near future?

On another note, I work at a community college and all of my favorite students are transferring/graduating. I am excited for them, but will miss them! They made it worth it to come to work everyday! I am not excited to deal with rebuilding our student community after it has been so positive and vibrant this year.

ETA: Forgot to add that I am also not excited about the fact that we had to drain the pond in our backyard this morning that we inherited when we moved into our new house a month ago. We had to drain it because whoever built it did a crappy job and got the size of the pump versus the size of the pond waaay wrong meaning we couldn't get the water clean and filtered. Our pond guy literally laughed when he looked at it this morning.

Re: What are you excited/not excited about?

  • I am excited for HH tomorrow. I am not excited about having to wait another almost 5 months for my wedding. But I have my vacation in about 6 weeks and then 3 weeks after I get back, Seahawks preseason starts!!!!!!

  • I'm excited about too many things to list right now! I'm not excited about having another night alone.
  • I'm excited for my friend's wedding in a little over 2 weeks. (I'm a BM.) Not super excited that for her shower 2 days before the wedding, the invitation specified to "bring something she'll use on her honeymoon, wink wink." Um, here's some sunscreen and pool toys? I'm not comfortable getting you any other type of "toy." We don't have that kind of friendship, and I don't want to have to bring those things on an airplane.

Yikes I should probably get my dress hemmed.

  • NOT excited for the 7 day work conference hell I'll be in shortly.

Overly exited for the whirlwind of goodness that will await me when I return, though. A craw fish boil, ring shopping w/ the Dude, couple of concerts at Red Rocks, FI's birthday and then the wedding!! Best.Summer.Ever.

The time will fly by! I'm still not over the fact that the Seahawks beat our 49'ers last season. :(

A 7 day work conference? I'm pretty sure that one of Dante's circles of hell. Glad you have a fun summer to look forward to!

Oh I hate those kind of showers! They are always awkward. You could always just get her a Victoria Secret gift card and call it good. Going to weddings as a guest is so fun! (Usually) I have two this summer.

  • Fiance turned in his last grad school assignment and took his last test today. I am excited to celebrate his graduation this weekend.

I am not excited that he is leaving to go on a fishing trip on Tuesday and I will not even be able to call and talk to him for 10 days. :(

I am super excited that I only have 5 days of school left, and only 3 of those are teaching days.

I am not excited that I'm having to drag my students through a big project we're doing because they won't do any work at home...

Congrats to your FI! What is his new degree in? My SIL is a teacher and is counting down the days too.

  • I'm not excited about all of the work we have planned to do on the house this weekend. I've also got a sullen teen boy who has been trying my patience this week- and is pissed at us because he's expected to help and at his mom for not allowing him to avoid it.

I was super-excited about the piece of chocolate cake my friend dropped by the house for me. FI was home and put it in the fridge with a note that said that it was for me. I just learned that his son ate it. I'm not happy.

I'm pissed off about my cake and seriously hormonal so I'm struggling to find something I'm excited about.

What's worse than a 7 day work conference? A 7 day work conference that we host (read: 16 hour days with only convention center food leftovers & cheap reception wine, all the while trying to make 3,000+ members happy).

On the bright side, this is the first time in the 8 years I've worked here that I'm bailing early. It's normally a 10 day trip. So yay for escapes :)

Lol, fair enough. I will say, begrudgingly, that Seattle was just the better team last year. They deserved it.

He is graduating from the seminary and will be a pastor.

Ewww, ewww, ewww! That is worse! I am so sorry! At least you get to leave a little bit early. What kind of conference is it?

Again, congrats! My DH had a few friends who trained to be pastors. That's awesome. What are his plans post-graduation? What age and subjects do you teach?

  • @SapphireCounselor--He actually got a call to a congregation in the town where I currently live (amazingly wonderful, because the odds of getting one in a specific location like that are really, really low) and will be an associate pastor starting once we get back from the honeymoon in July. I teach 3rd graders, so I teach everything!
  • I am excited to get paid tomorrow! So that's good. And I had a work meeting at the paper, so that's exciting.

Also excited to turn in my resignation on Friday. Boss made a VERY rude and off-color joke about my dad and so I'm going to tell him to shove it.

    Not excited to be broke.

Buttt also excited about my egg money coming in the future. I am trying to decide between buying boobs, a street bike, or another trip to Disneyland.
Wow! I'm sorry your boss did that. I know that the job market is a scary scary place right now, but no one should have to put up with that kind of thing. Good luck!

Excited to be moving. Not excited that FI is still on the job search and I will have to be soon as well. Excited that I'm moving barns, but not excited that I'll have to sit in a truck for 8 hours to move my horse come Monday, and then I won't be able to see her for a couple weeks. Excited to be married in 5 weeks, notsomuch about the work involved still.

  • Excited about submitting to art galleries in the coming weeks. Not excited about sitting down and painting though.

Excited about kayaking this weekend and possibly booking the venue/setting the date (doing a kinda long engagement to save up for the wedding)... extra not excited to explain to mom that we want to pay for the wedding ourselves mostly so that we do not get guilt tripped into some of her family members that I fucking loathe.

I would be furious about the cake. It's not like he didn't know it was for you. I hope your FI demands an apology from him and makes him make it up to you somehow.

Yeah. The more I think about it the more pissed I get. My dad was involved in a shooting at a hospital and was put on administrative leave. My boss asked me about it today and said, 'Ha! Well your dad should shoot someone more often! That way he can work at home in his pajamas.'

I did an awkward laugh and let it go. But now I'm pissed.
Wow, yeah that was waaay inappropriate of him. I would definitely let him know how you feel if you've had a generally good relationship with him up until this point.

Sounds like a lot of transitions! Once the dust settles I'm sure it will all come together.

Good luck submitting to galleries! Booking the venue is fun! What is yours like? I hope the conversation with your mom goes as well as it can.

I'm sorry! I'd be mad about the cake too! And I am beginning to hate yard work too! We have so much house work to do this weekend it isn't funny.
