Just wanted to give a shout-out to those of you wonderful Knotties who shared this fabulous word with me via these forums: "volun-told." It really came in handy for my MOH...

One of my BM is expecting a baby in a few months; her twin sister (my MOH) is hosting a baby shower in our area for family and friends (the expectant mommy lives about 2 hours away in a major metropolitan city). Almost-mommy is also having a baby shower thrown for her friends in her city by another friend; Almost-mommy also said that her twin sister would help the hostess out. When my MOH gets the email with a HUGE list of responsibilities, she's shocked. I gave her some ideas on how to reply-telling her that she doesn't need to make any excuses, just that she has X max budget and she would prefer to bake some scones and get the prizes for the games. Long story short, she took my advice and got a nice response back.

The moral of the story? Friends don't let friends get Volun-told.

ETA: Paragraphs...wth?!

  • Almost-mommy sounds like a peach...

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'
  • They are very different for twins! Almost-mommy & her hubby make more money than MOH & her hubby; MOH and hubs also have 2 kids and a house payment that Almost-mommy doesn't, so I just don't think they have any idea how quickly disposable income disappears when you add to your family!

She's in for a surprise...but I adore her, despite her clue-less-ness in these occasions.
