Give me good finger food ideas!!

My sister is wanting some fancy finger food ideas for my bridal shower. She hasn't had much luck searching elsewhere, so I told her I'd ask you guys!

We love the idea of pinwheels - any good recipes for that?

Re: Give me good finger food ideas!!

  • Can you be more specific?

    Hors d'oeuvres? Cakes? Savouries? Sweets?

  • Probably hors d'oeuvres. Its at 2 pm, so not meal time.

    What are savouries?

Cake and cookies will already be there.

  • Mini caprese bites - Cherry or grape tomatoes, small mozzarella balls, and basil with good EVOO, balsamic vinegar, and salt/pepper for dipping/seasoning

  • Savouries are not sweet things -- caprese, quiche, etc.

I'm also a fan of mini quiches, caprese balls, miniature meatballs, things like that.

  • Haha, I love to cook so much it would be my pleasure.

Its been awhile since I threw a good dinner party.
  • Buy a bunch of those little bite sized phyllo cups (seriously, a whole whole bunch, boxes), a wheel or two of Brie, and some jam. Raspberry, apricot, or fig is good. And some pistachios.

Cut the brie into little squares and pop one into each phyllo cup. Bake as directed on the package until the cheese is gooey, at least gooey as far as Brie goes. Soon as you take them out, top with a spoonful of warmed jam and a sprinkle of (chopped, toasted) pistachios.

    Heaven.
  • FI and I did a whole New Year's Eve cocktail party menu of finger foods. Most of them were interesting, delicious things wrapped in crescent rolls.

Brie, apple, honey in crescent roll
    Pizza rolls in crescent roll
    Jalapeño poppers
    Stuffed mushrooms
    Chicken parmesan meatballs
Mini apple pies in crescent roll

  • Brie, pear and brown sugar baked in phyllo cups
Pie crust in a mini muffin tin filled with spinach artichoke dip
    Fancy sliders
    Brazilian brigadieros (chocolates)

Spinach, feta, and mozzarella rolls: http://clairebidwellsmith.com/2010/01/22/windy-city-crescent-rolls/ involves crescent rolls, so it's quite easy.

This is tasty too, it's a copycat of Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuits: http://www.budgetsavvydiva.com/2012/03/copy-cat-recipe-red-lobsters-cheddar-bay-biscuits/

I haven't tried this, but here's some mini taco cups: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ginnerobot/3431227193/

Not finger food, but I love to bring a caprese salad for get togethers. Just gets some pretty little heirloom tomatoes (grape or cherry will work too, but the variety of color is nice), some mozzarella pearls, olive oil, and lots of basil and mix it all together. Great summer dish.

These cheesecake nutella twists are fun too, again with crescent rolls:
