Date Night?

Hey ladies and gents,

I have been aching for a date night with FI for awhile without any wedding business being involved. I kind of want to do something new or special but my mind is coming to a blank.

Any suggestions? What is your favorite date night?

Re: Date Night?

  • Go do something you haven't done before, or done in awhile.  Something fun - laser tag, ice skating, bowling, mini golf, just something where you're spending time together.

If you like music, find a concert.

If you like museums, find a new one to explore.

  • Dinner/drinks before seeing a play. That's my favorite. :) Especially if we are seeing a musical.

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'

When we were at university, FI and I attended the symphony concerts. We dressed up fancy and went to dinner before them. I really miss doing that. Plays or musicals would be SO much fun!

We ended up going on a date night kind of inadvertently. J was getting a haircut and I finished work just in time to meet up with him when he was done. We went to dinner at the restaurant where we had our first date. It was a lot of fun!

  • I like the idea of going to a museum or a nice play. I'm going to check to see whats going on the city this weekend. Thanks ladies!

@phira I love the idea of going back to the restaurant we had our first date but it went out of business. :(

One of the things I love best about the area we live in is that it has some awesome playhouses...all the way from cheap amateur productions to Broadway caliber stuff. I can't get enough. My FIL bought us seasons tickets to Broadway San Jose for Xmas. It might be the best gift I have ever gotten. :)

  • FI and I are super boring. We go out to dinner. That's about the extent of how creative we get.

Aww, that's a huge bummer :( If you have another location you went to on an early date, that might still be fun as well!

Yep, we're like @blergbot. Just dinner.
  • Act like a tourist for an evening, dress up and stay in, do an at-home spa night, do one of those byob painting classes, cooking classes, go to a comedy show.

What I've done for my FI and I I developed a date night/day book. There's different restaurants we've talked about wanting to go to, fun things to do in the city, and at home dates. Kind of like a couples bucket list. We check the date off the list when we do it, and take a picture for the book. It saves us from the, "what are we gonna do this weekend" Thing

  • Since its warmer out BF & I will head out to local wineries that are hosting events (music, food trucks, special tastings with pairings). We usually buy a bottle of wine and some cheese & crackers from whatever winery we end up at and hang out for a while.
  • We just went to the zoo last night - they had a late night 18+ event.  It was super fun and awesome to be there without hordes of children.

The Science Museum also does 21+ events quarterly.

We do mini-golf - traditional and the art museum here has a course as does the science museum.

The wine & painting events are fun and the ones around here will often have "date night" specific ones.

We have so many local breweries that have tasting rooms and special events on weekend nights with food trucks, karaoke, music, etc.

  • also, if you are by rivers or lakes, there are often dinner cruises and things that are lovely to do.

  • Sculpture Gardens and Arboretums.

Check your local parks and rec for free concerts for the summer.

Sorry to bombard the thread...I'm at work today and it sucks to be inside on a glorious day like this.
