My partner J was repeatedly logged out of Facebook all week, no explanation. Every time it happened, he would have to go through security steps to log back in.
Tonight, he somehow failed the security check, even though he entered in the correct password and other info (he thinks he failed the CAPTCHA, which, don't even get me started on CAPTCHA). Facebook still let him log back in, but blocked "certain features" on the site.
Certain features like ... posting on any wall except his own (including groups), liking anything, commenting on any posts (including his own posts), and sending messages. Besides browsing his newsfeed, he comments on stuff all the time; he's involved in a bunch of private groups with lots of "internet friends" (basically like user-created private forums), and he's was running a massive game of Nomic (thank goodness he was able to transfer admin privileges to someone else because otherwise the game would have had to stop for 30 days).
Reporting the problem is pointless because Facebook only wants feedback and doesn't address individual complaints. A week ago, I knew someone who worked at Facebook and might have been able to pull some strings, but he's now my sister's ex-boyfriend so ... not happening.
So J is off Facebook for a month and in solidarity, I'm off for a month, too. I thought, "Yay, I'll be more productive!" before I remembered that I spent a lot more time on TK than I ever did on Facebook ...
Anyone else experience this "lovely" Facebook problem?
