Wedding dress dilemma!

Hello,

I am getting married in 2 1/2 months. I currrenly live 1,600 miles away from my home town where I am getting married. I have two choices when it comes to getting a dress. Choice 1) Get it where I live now (recently moved would be by myself) and find a way to get it back home. 2) Wait till I go home for the wedding (1 week before the date) and get a dress then. I have also started loosing a lot of weight and am worried about the fit. I already know that I will need to get an off the rack dress and am totallly fine with that. I have no real idea of what kind of dress I want to get. Just something that looks good! :) Any advice is welcome!!!!! Thanks. :)

There is nothing wrong with going shopping by yourself. You can always send pictures of your favorite dresses to get peoples opinion.
I personally would never wait until 1 week before my wedding to buy a dress, but that's just me.
  • this is what I would do go to places where you live now find an off the rack dress that you love have the salon alter it to fit you I would say one or 2 fittings then have the salon ship the dress back home to your parents house or whatever  house you want the dress at so you dont have to worry about dragging it back home. I would not wait till a week before. and sometimes you can find a dress of the rack with little to no altering needed

You only have 2 1/2 months.  I would go shopping ASAP, do not wait until a week before your wedding when you are in town.

Unless you don't mind getting married in your favorite sun dress as a backup, start shopping now.

I would go shopping now!!  If you're worried about your weight changing, you can look for dresses with a corset back or have one put in, that will allow for some weight fluctuation.

I went by myself found a dress I loved and nobody's opinion really mattered to me after that.

EDIT:  I thought I'd mention it took me about 1 1/2 months before I found a dress I loved.

  • I went on my own.  Lots of girls do.  I think it is easier than going with other people and dealing with their opinions.  After all, it will be YOUR dress!

  • Go now. Run, don't walk. Since you're buying off the rack, you'll likely need alterations done, and that can take some time. Ship it home and have the final steam/press done there.

  • Shop immediately! You don't want added stress week of. If any stores have a personal shopper, buy their help to get a honest review on what works.
  • Ok! Thanks for the advice. I guess I had better start looking now!! :)
  • I got one this weekend! Phew :)
