Closed Thread- Why?

Just curious, why was this thread closed: http://forums.theknot.com/discussion/1022892/sh-t-my-husband-says/p15

What was the specific TOS violation that lead to the thread closure?

~Picking on people's punctuation, spelling, and grammar?
~Calling people out for not responding?
~Mentioning Stage and Linger?
~Mentioning Strippers?
~Mentioning Stripper Shoes?
~Discussing Pole Dancing?

Re: Closed Thread- Why?

  • Why, I had the VERY SAME question!

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.
  • It's probably not REALLY closed. It's just the same infamous "glitch" that got many of us temp banned/unable to post immediately following Stage and Linger's banning.

And yet the vendor I posted about two days ago is still there.

    SMH.

I'm ok with following and promoting specific rules, and trying to maintain a certain level of decorum across the boards.

But that thread was pretty tame.  Heated at times?  Sure.  But no blatant TOS violations as far as I can see.

  • Yes. Please provide an explanation as to why someone was available to close a thread but not to ban reported vendors.

Why is that thread closed but the vendors in this post - http://forums.theknot.com/discussion/98165/farm-table-rental-in-pittsburgh#latest are still (and others) are around even after I (and possibly others) have report them?
See, those vendors posting in the Pittsburgh thread seem fine to me because the OP was specifically soliciting for vendors to contact.

True and it was the only thread I could think of off of my head that had a few vendoring.  I think OP got married awhile ago or posted and dashed since she asked that question in January of 2012.  Threads that old could/should be at least closed.

That person that spelled Pittsburgh without a H bugged me, too. I hate when people do that.
We have been wanting that for a while (and have asked several times) so newbs don't dig up zombie threads...needless to say we are still waiting.

But advertising/promoting any business on these boards is a violation of TOS. You know, an actual violation. Spelled out. In black and white. No interpretation necessary. Unlike the murky waters of "bullying".

And the reason why advertising on the boards is a TOS violation is because TK doesn't make any money off of ppl posting their company info on the boards.

But in order to advertise elsewhere on the site and to be listed as a vendor on the site, those vendors have to pay TK to list them.

I'm with you on the bullying aspect.

My bet is on the mentioning of stripper shoes and pole dancing. TK cannot afford to be associated with that "kind" of people.

I think it was the creepy Barbie head ones. That definitely warranted a thread closing.

  • I went to a meeting and wanted to come back to bitch about my FI and that thread was closed, FFS TK get your shit together.

@knotporscha is in hiding and will have some generic bullshit response.

Well, that's assuming they "believe in" strippers in the first place. Hard to say. ;)

  • We decided to close the thread based on the personal attacks, malicious comments, and violations of TOS.

@snippet17-- the users in that thread have all been banned for spamming.

    Thanks!

  • Which comments were violating TOS? I only saw one.

Why is it okay for certain posters to make "malicious comments" and not others?

This is code for: we didn't really want to deal with it and for some uncomprehensible reason we haven't reinstated mods who will volunteer to deal with it.

  • Also, if there were personal attacks, malicious comments, and tos violations, why was no one banned?
  • Or at least specifically warned that they were crossing a line?

  • I have the same question as PPs here: where were the attacks? Why are some malicious comments ok, but not others?

Consistency is something that TK lacks.
