Photographer?

Has anyone heard of Ken's Digital Photography? I met with him and he seems really good, but I can't find any reviews online!

Also, anyone used Ari Rosenthal?

Thanks!

Hi... see my vendor reviews for everything on our March wedding (Riedas-Chuchman).

    Yes... we used Ken's Digital
and we are STILL using Ken's over a year from signing the contract, and three months after the wedding, in a digital age.

Ken is an artist, and that is what I wanted for a photographer.  The images are great, some are amazing.  We didn't do a "photo session" of the usual hour of posed photography, by choice.  Seeing his usual work, now, and our photos I think that made him uncomfortable.
So if you are going to do traditional, Ken is FANTASTIC.  Book him!   If you want something outside of a beach wedding or posed photographs then be willing to wait a while for final photos and album.

For our album, I wanted what we saw in his studio. We had to do most of the post production work to achive that, and on the second email request for changes I got excuses about production time and threats of extra charges. He also likes to badmouth other brides to people as a means of intimidation to make you do what he wants.
He can shoot great pics, but production is something else.

Memorize your contract, no matter who you sign with.  I still say that pictures are the most important and trickiest part of a wedding.

Congratulations and good luck in the planning.

Ken has a reptutaion of badmouthing brides as well as other vendors which I think is very unprofessional. He recently did a wedding for a friend of mine and they were not happy. He missed a lot of cool ideas that the videographer had to point out and make suggestions about. A good idea with ANY photographer you are looking at is to ask to see at least 3 complete weddings. If there are things missing that you would like included chances are if you sign with them it wont be in your pictures either. Remember EVERY photographer posts only their best pictures from each wedding so you need to check and see if the work is at least consistent or if those great pics are just flukes that they got lucky on. Hope this helps and wish you the best in your search.

Ken did our wedding pictures 17 years ago and our daughters graduation pictures in 2008. He is an amazing photographer. He's been in business for a very long time which says a lot about his work.

That said...we used him for our family photos and I didn't care for almost all of them. In theory the ideas of the posing were great but the final pics...not so much. We also had an issue with pricing and he was unwilling to budge. Don't get me wrong..I understand he took an hour out of his day to take those family photos but there was no flim, developing, printing, etc involved at that point and his unwillingness to budge left a bad taste in my mouth.   We got a lot of excused about his wife having cancer and medical bills and such. I understand that but that's also not my concern.

So having said that, I think he is a great photographer and wouldn't tell you to not use him at all but I would make sure you get the contract the way you want it not the way he wants it.

I think Ari Rosenthal is actually comprised of several different photographers, so just make sure you look at the protfolio of the person who will actually be photographing your wedding...  Not just Ari's.
