How long should I plan my ceremony to be (timing it)

I am early in the planning and have an idea of what I want to do and locations are figured out. But i want to know the average length of time do a typical wedding ceremony (should)  take.

[QUOTE]Definitely depends on the type of ceremony.  Ours was 20 minutes, but we had no religious affiliations.  Ours included a processional, welcome, delcaration of intent, vows, unity ceremony, greeting of the parents, and recessional.  Short but sweet :) A Catholic mass would take 45 min - 1 hour. Have you asked your officiant how long to expect?

Sorry just got back to this post, well from history (he will be my church pastor) it mainly up to the bride and groom to add on the special things like songs and readings. It will be a basic Christian ceremony so without all the extra fluff, it can be within 30 mins.
