This article had me dying! I literally laughed so hard, I could see this happening to me. Now, if I do decide to ever wax "down there", it will definitely not be at home.

(And even though the author's name is Emma, unfortunately I am not this clever to have written that article. Nor do I have kids)

  • OMG that's something I would do.

Once when I was like 16 I was looking at home waxing kits while out with my mom, she "caught" me and told me she pay for me to have whatever it was I wanted waxed done professionally because knowing me I'd end up needing a skin graph.
  • Oh heavens I've read that before. It's one of my favorite things on the whole internet. Better than the metal rooster!

  • OMG! I'm laughing so hard right now. This is exactly why I go to a professional because I could so see myself doing something like that.
  • I didn't really think it was that funny.

Side note:  It doesn't hurt to wax inbetween your butt cheeks....

  • OMG that was too hilarious. I had to read it in spurts so that people at work would not think I was insane. I have gotten brazilian waxes professionally done, but have NEVER done one to myself. I attempted it once. As in I bought the stuff, saw what it entailed and just said Nope!

  • I bought the stuff once, but couldn't do it at home. I actually can't get waxed because it tickles too much. I'm a weirdo.
  • This is why I go and get it done professionally...and it STILL HURTS.

  • And this is 110,000,000 bazillion percent why I pay my nice Indian lady $35 ($25 + tip) to wax my vag and ass crack. I go every six weeks -- so roughly 8 times per year -- and it's worth every penny.

She and my OB/GYN and DH are the only people who see me up that close and personal.

  • I do my own at home, about every 3-4 weeks.  I only do bikini wax though, no Brazilian.   I feel like if you can't see it without help, you shouldn't be waxing it.  I also use a warm sugaring solution, so it hurts a bit less

  • I guess I'm just not very invested in body hair removal...

I shave everything off.  I would love to try a Brazilian wax and maybe keep going if it went OK.  But then again, I am cheap and not that rearing to go.  It always makes me think of the scene where Steve Carrel's character from 40 Year Old Virgin gets waxed, but it would worse because it would be on some pretty sensitive areas.

Hahaha they really waxed him for this scene, too.  Makes me crack up every time.

I will wax my own eyebrows and upper lip.  I just shave the lady bits.  I am too afraid of fucking it up if I do it myself (basically, this article would be me), and I don't really want anybody else to rip my hair out.  I never seem to get ingrown hairs so shaving works for me.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • I have resorted to plucking down there. Shaving gives me red bumps, no matter how hard I try (brand new razor, shaving cream, conditioner, shaving right after getting in the shower, shaving half way through, shaving at the end - I've tried all the little tricks.)

I can't wax myself. It hurts too much and it doesn't get all the hair.

I have gotten bikini waxes twice. I liked the results, but it was pretty painful, and I'm super cheap. So I pluck. But I haven't done it in awhile (yay winter!), so it'll take me half an hour or so to get all caught up again. When I'm caught up, it's maybe two minutes a day.

I'd like to try an epilator sometime.  Actually, I'd like to be a billionaire and pay for laser hair removal.
  • I haven't ventured into Brazilian waxing. I would NEVER want to try it on myself. I tried waxing my own eyebrows for a while and was just too much hassle. Between the sticky stuff and making sure I didn't wax off an entire eyebrow, I'd rather just go get my eyebrows threaded (which is amazing).

I just shave my lady parts but it would be nice for summer to not have to!

  • Hahaha! I just shave!

  • I don't like shaving. It's irritating and has to be done so often but I do it. Mostly because I'm afraid to spend money and then cry on the table lol. I get my eyebrows waxed or threaded. They are crazy if left to me.

I am strongly considering a Brazilian in the next couple of weeks. If it goes ok I'll probably keep up with it because I hate shaving so much.
  • I guess I'm just not very invested in body hair removal...
Me either. I just trim, or shave if needed. I have had a basic bikini wax (just the edges), but again, the tickling. Can't do it.

I also shave. I went for a brazillian once, and couldn't get all the way through. I ended up getting a 'deep bikini' as the lady ended up calling it. The butt didn't bother me. It was actually kind of pleasurable. Apparently it gets less painful as you go on, but no way in hell would I do that again. I will take shaving and potential ingrown hairs over that bullshit again.

It really does. I know that sounds trite, but it does get less painful. I only have to go every six or seven weeks, and last time I went, I barely noticed it.

But I also think it depends on your pain tolerance level. I had a friend who's had three kids do it and she said it was more painful than childbirth and she'd never do it again. I don't have kids but I didn't think it hurt that badly.

  • The first time I waxed was actually my eyebrows. They are pretty well behaved but I get those weird sticky up ones in the middle and I hate plucking, so I got them waxed and it didn't hurt at all. I had my underarms done once, that hurt like hell. I get a Brazilian about every other month or so, my hair doesn't grow fast. It hurt the first time, but after a while felt fine and then the next few times it got less painful as I went. I mean, it still hurts, but not as bad and the recovery time is less.
  • Brazilian wax > Shaving any day. I've had them done so often that I don't even realize the pain factor. I just went this past Saturday and my usualy woman was out (she was getting married) so her CW did my Brazilian and she was like "how long have you been getting these? You don't even wince!"

Eyebrows on the other hand, fuck that. I hate getting my eyebrows waxed.

  • @buddysmom90 You should try threading for your eyebrows and lip. It hurts a little but it doesn't make you skin so raw like waxing does and is actually better for your skin.

  • I thank Jesus everyday that I have fine ginger/blonde hair on my body, so shaving is super easy and I never need to wax.

I've got blonde hair all over my body too, you can't see anything! But it always ends up bugging me.
  • I went and got a Brazillian once and I literally hauled back and almost punched the lady! I think it is better for everyone's safety if I just shave.

  • I waxed my own eyebrows once and took off a layer of skin. It turned into two giant scabs. Definitely not the look I was going for.

Now, I pluck my eyebrows or get them done professionally. I hate body hair, and I just shave the hell out of the rest of my body. Some people think it's weird that I shave my arms, but I love it. I haven't been brave enough to get anything beyond eyebrows waxed, but the idea is appealing sometimes.
  • And this is why I shave the lady bits.

Wax should be only for brows, upper lips and chin (stupid hair growing out of my scar!)

Or, the occasional sexy/kinky time with H.

So, I'm considering shaving my arms.  The hair is blonde and practically invisible, but it's long.  Does it grow back darker?
  • @Lizzieyounce I never noticed it growing back darker at all. It is now flat at the end, and that can make it seem thick, but it's not really any thicker either. I usually shave every few days anyway, so it never has a chance to do much. I just love how it feels and looks.
