Health vent UPDATE

For the last four weeks, I have been fighting an eye infection.  My left eye is swollen, and the skin around it looks like somebody hit me.  It is especially puffy underneath my eye.
My doctor prescribed a strong course of antibiotics, which seemed to help somewhat, but the problem is still there.  My eye is open about 75%.  Now I have an appointment with an ENT doctor next Tuesday.
Well, of course the antibiotics gave me a vaginal yeast infection, and after three days of Miconozole yucky stuff, not only is it still there, but it has spilled over and now I have a UTI.  DH is starting to whine because I have been out of commission for so long, and I feel grouchy and icky.
I'm a cancer survivor, and I've known much worse, but this is just plain annoying!
Thanks for letting me vent.  Snarl!  Growl!  I need chocolate!

  • How does your doc feel about diflucan?  It's worked well for me in the past.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Oh poor baby. Hope you're all better soon.
  • That sounds awful.  Hope it all clears up soon!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope that you're able to get the infections (all three of them--yikes!!!) cleared up as soon as possible!

You really got fucked over, too; those are probably the three least comfortable places to have an infection.

  • UTIs are heinous. Truly, truly awful. You certainly have sympathy from me.

Agreed. I've gotten them since I was young (I had to have surgery because I had bladder reflux which basically meant I got them a lot as a kid and couldn't do anything to prevent it).

I second Diflucan. I used to get horrible recurring yeast infections, sometimes 2-3 per month, a diflucan was the only thing that worked. Effective and no mess.

Oh, yuck. FMIL just sent me some See's chocolates, which I will gladly share with you...unless I eat all of them myself :P I got a yeast infection from antibiotics taken after a wisdom tooth extraction--those just plain suck even without a UTI on top of that.

I am a (hopefully this won't jinx it!) soon to be cancer survivor and I've been out of commission pretty much such the chemo started :( I do think that it's toughening me up and putting other health issues into perspective.
  • I'm so sorry.   NONE of those are fun at all.    I hope you're feeling better today!
  • Hope all three clear up soon!
  • Don't know if this would help but when I was on 2 antibiotics at once, followed by a 3rd a took a probiotic that's supposedly formulated to help keep you from developing yeast infections. Dunno if it actually works but I didn't get one. Also had a few uti's recently and the AZO tablets are awesome for making u feel better until the antibiotics start working.

  • I hope you feel better soon, CMGR.

Add some yogurt to your day, and cranberry juice.  If you hate these, ask about a probiotic like emc suggested.

Just got back from the ENT.  It's not a sinus infection.  Now I go to my Opthamologist.  DH is being sweet about it.  They let him watch my CAT scan.  He's an electronics engineer, and loves techie stuff.
All the moisture "downstairs" means I need him to spray Lotromin. Damn, this sucks!
So far, spent $130 not covered by insurance. :-(

  • Good luck and feel better.
  • Sorry. I hope they figure out what the ailment is and that you heal quickly. ((((Hugs)))
