Edith's Bridal Shop in Fond du Lac...Reviews?

I am going to look at dresses at Edith's in Fond du Lac. Anyone been there before and how would you review the place? I've heard great stories and horror stories and I'm just trying to get a feel for the place. If things fail there I will try the The Bridal Event in Appleton.

There are a few reviews on the WI knottie website. The link to the site is in my siggy. There are also tons of reviews on many other things! Post pics of dresses if you can!

  • I bought my dress there in December!  I bought the dress for $100 less at Edith's than I would have paid for it at Amelishan in Hubertus.  Edith's does not allow you to take pictures before you buy and they rip the tags.  HOWEVER, if you do a little work before hand, you might be able to figure out the designers ahead of time.  They have a ton of dresses posted on their website and they do have the designer names on the website.  The other thing I would suggest  is that if you see something on the website, e-mail them and ask them if they have it in the store.  I had a good experience at my appointment and would recommend them in a heartbeat.  And holy cow, they have a TON of bridesmaids dresses!

  • I have heard a few horror stories about the purchasing phase but I've seen first hand how bad their alterations are! If you purchase from Edith's have someone else do alterations. They charge waaay more than other places and their work looks unfinished. At my friend's wedding one of the bridesmaids dresses were fraying all around the bottom. It looked horrible.

  • I bought my dress here in October and all of my girls got their dresses there. I would say purchase the dress from there and take it elsewhere for alternations. The customer service in the Bridal department was great.
  • I looked at dresses there a couple weeks ago.  They have a really great selection, but I never actually got a consultant to work with me - even though I made an appointment.  Instead of a consultant, I got a woman who works at the desk.  She was very nice, but couldn't answer many of my questions.  I did not purchase anything.
  • I went there to try on dresses and had the most HORRIBLE experiance. The ladies were rude, they didn't listen to what I was sugesting about dress types. She even gor my hair caught in the hook of a dress and just yanked it out!

I told her that I felt like i need a dress that is well fit on teh top and then comes out at the waiste and she actually said "You don't NEED that, you just WANT it" in a very snippy way like I was being an inconvinace to her!

I am not usually the person to say I will neve go back to a place based on one bad experiance but I talked to 3 ladies and every single one of them treated me the same. Not to mention that there were 3 of them I couldn't even get one ladie with for the whole apointment.

Being from the Fond du Lac area I hear a lot about ediths and it is usually bad. I would not suggest it.

  • My dress fitting was flawless and the lady who found the dress of my dreams was amazing. She stayed within my budget and was very great at running a smooth appointment. I paid in full right away and now I'm wondering if that was a mistake. When I went to pick up my dress it was like no one blinked at me, even though I set up an appointment and they knew I was coming. There were two girls who made me feel like they just wanted to get paid to stand around and gossip in the back room rather than appreciate the money I put into buying through their business so they could even HAVE a job in the first place. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED that my expensive dress was placed into what can pretty much be summed up as an extended white TRASH BAG with the bottom cut off and tied up. SERIOUSLY? Edith's can't afford real garment bags for people who spend over a thousand dollars? I know of several other bridal shops that give you professional garment bags that actually have zippers on them! When I asked why my dress wasn't leaving in a suitable bag the girl said that the white trash bag was "better" than the expensive garment bags they have ALL their dresses stored in on their own racks! I don't believe that lie for a second! If the trash bags are better for the dresses why wouldn't they keep their OWN dresses in it? I feel like I was ripped off from my bag so that they could use it in their OWN store! On top of all of that I was STILL buying my Mom her Mother Of The Bride dress downstairs which was just under $200! The lady was with other wedding parties so we were waiting patiently for her to finish so I could pay for the dress... until the girl from upstairs whined "Can we go put these out in your vehicle now and you can come back inside and pay?" So she wanted me to leave my dress outside in my car in a back parking lot with no one to watch it so that she could go back and gossip with her friend? Seriously, think twice unless you want to leave with trash bags and trash service in the end!
