Snarky Brides

made me giggle

I know there are a lot of people here who get snarky about train-tracks engagement photos and other trends like mustache favors.

A woman I really like has her wedding coming up so occasionally she's posted pictures of things she's working on. Well, she posted one of her engagement photos today and they are standing on the tracks of one of those street-trolleys (like in San Fran, but I don't think they're in San Fran). There is a trolley RIGHT behind them.

The one and only reply was, "Uh, there's a train coming. Literally and figuratively."  Hee hee hee.

It's a lovely photo but I enjoy people who tell it like it is!

  • Hahahaha.  We have a street trolley running literally outside our window.  Why did I never think of this as the PERFECT photo shoot location???

  • We took the train back from a weekend trip yesterday and it was delayed 2+ hours because someone decided to lay down on the tracks and kill themselves.  FI happened to see a glimpse of the body before it was covered up. I don't think I'll ever look at those train track engagement pics the same way again.

    Oh My God.

Yeah that happens with frightening frequency in my city's metropolitan area.  Half-dozen times a year I'd say.

  • I lived in the Netherlands, and they have many of their mental health facilities right near train tracks, mostly because no one really wants to leave near the train tracks, so that lands needs to be used for something.  It sadly results in many suicides.  I had quite a few trains delayed for that purpose.  It is sad, and I don't understand the appeal of wedding pictures there.  Unless, you know, it's an old abandoned rail track and there is a pretty bridge on it.  I guess that would be acceptable.
