    It is called a drop veil. It just sits over your head, typically not attached with anything. Sometimes you can attach a small comb right to the top if you are afraid it will slip.

    I thought the term "cathedral veil" had more to do with the length of the veil than the style.

    It does.  Cathedral length veil is the longest of all veils.  The style of the veil in the above picture is a drop veil while the length is cathedral.
