XP: Invitation Etiquette

Is there any general rule for putting the names on the invitation? I've noticed that for straight marriages sometimes the guy's name is first and sometimes it's the girl. How do you choose for a gay wedding? LOL Alphabetically maybe?

  • Alphabetically is the usual choice.  The rules for this haven't really been set in stone yet.

  • I guess that's the most logical answer. Thank you!

We did ours based on the guest we were inviting (first), then his/her guest.

I think it ended up being in alphabetical order by coincidence... which is weird. But good, I guess, since I didn't even consider the potential etiquette violation at the time!

Edit: Just to be clear, I am referring to same sex couples.

  • LOL I meant our names, i'm not worried about whose name goes first on the envelope!
