Any recommendations on a caterer for a Milwaukee reception?

My (future) husband and I are having a destination wedding and wanted to come back and throw a "party" instead of an actual sit-down reception.  We're thinking cocktails and hors d'ouvres (can be passed or available at stations).

Has anybody done this already or known someone else who has?  Any luck with local caterers?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

My brother had Saz's for his wedding and the food was very good.  The service wasn't great, but it was New Year's Eve and I thinkt they had a lot of inexperienced servers that particular night.  We are having Zilli's for our wedding.  A few friends have also had Zilli's at their weddings (and one had stations) and it was very good.

I was also looking into Zilli's, just wasn't sure how they worked for anyone else.  Thanks for the tip!

We are having DiCarlos from Oak Creek for our Milwaukee wedding.  The food is absolutely amazing, and the catering manager is excellent and very helpful in the planning process.

I am having Outpost cater our wedding. I'm trying to have as "green" of a wedding as possible.  All the food served will be organic and fresh, we did a taste test of our top contenders and I was very impressed. The people from Outpost have been super helpful and have promptly answered any of our questions within hours. So far, just an overall great experience!

We're using Irene's Catering and have been impressed so far. The food at our tasting was a lot better than we were expecting.

We are using Chef Jack's out of Waukesha. The food tasting was amazing and he has great reviews on here. My FI and I actually met with Chef Jack for the food tasting and he sat with us for 2 hours and answered all of our questions. HTH!

We passed on Zilli and Chef Jack (who also sat with us an served us reheated appetizers).  Saz's was amazing.  I can understand the New Year's Eve and staffing.  Our's was fabulous, staff included.

If you are looking for just a smaller event of app's and cocktails, they can accomadate anything.  They changed a few things for us, and even adapted to fit our requests for specific foods and such. If these guys can serve thousands at Summerfest, and serve 120 people for fine dinning... I think you will find the right fit for your taste and budget.  (Ask for Ed)

I second Chef Jack's. I fell in love with their company over two years ago becaue of their service at a wedding I was at. Food is TO DIE FOR! People will be talking for years about the food. Plus, he's been voted number one for a few years now on Milwaukee's A-List.

I went to a wedding a month ago and Zilli's catered. It was also an hors
d 'oeuvres and cocktail reception (the couple had a destination wedding too). It was a huge crowd of at least 250 people. They had hand-passed and stations with a variety of food from turkey silver dollar sandwiches to crab cakes and boursin mushrooms (which was my FAVORITE!!!). We had a great time enjoying the food and the staff. The manager was also funny and cool!! I hope this helps and good luck!
