Attending a wedding - Need some advice.

Ladies, this is the first wedding I've attended since I was a flower girl! Need some fashion advice. Small (less than 30 people) Spring wedding in Vegas. Evening reception dinner at a restaurant and partying on the town after. Indoor ceremony at a very nice casino chapel. My husband is best man. The invite has noted "formal" which I find to be the most vague attire note on the planet, especially in Vegas. I'm lost as to what would be appropriate for both the wedding and a night on the town. And formal and Spring clash in my head. I picture light and bright colors and floaty short dresses for a Spring wedding, but all things I've seen on formal dressing suggest subdued colors and long dresses. I'm afraid either looking too glitzy or too dowdy. Would sequins be alright? Am I stuck with dark and neutral colors?

I think you can probably get away with any type of cocktail dress. If you are concerened about colors, ask the bride what her colors are and if she is having BM in a specific color I would maybe consider avoiding that one color. Unless it's black, then black is a free for all color.

 I also agree that going with a cocktail dress is a safe bet, for this type of wedding. I'd probably sway away from black though, as *some* brides may find it "faux pas", and keep it no shorter than just above the knee. I think that last part would go without saying though. I do really like the navy blue, full length dress in the PP. Very pretty.

I would avoid black and go with a bright or pastel color.

Jewel tone cocktail dress. Maybe with a fun statement necklace...it is Vegas after all, not a Baptist church in the Bible belt, so have fun! Rent the Runway has a boutique inside the Cosmopolitan, so you could go pick out something to wear for the night, including accessories.
