Finally getting somewhere with my medical issues!

So, ever since I was 16 I had issues with ovarian cysts. Every time when my monthly came around, it sucked balls and I was in sooo much pain! FF to last year, I had severe stomach issues so they did a CT scan. Didn't really find anything wrong with the tummy, but they did find I had a cyst on my left ovary that was 5cm. HOLY CRAP! That is the biggest I have had.. or so I thought. I went in Tuesday for a sonogram to see if the BC I have been on has shrunk it any. Not only had it not shrunk it, the cyst got bigger and now is 6.9 cm big. Good news though is that it is not harming anything from what the doctor told me (Which I was worried sick over as I want kids sometime in the not too far distance) but it might get more uncomfortable over time.

So I decided to do the lapriscopy and they will drain it or remove it. Now I hate surgeries, even short day ones but will be so happy to get this behind me. I feel like I am finally getting all this taken care of and out of the way. Woo-Hoo me! Even though it grew, I feel like a weight has been lifted and that I now know what is going on. Anyone else get some good news or anything so far this week?

Any goals you are close to accomplishing or have already accomplished?

  • Good luck on getting it drained! I had a cyst on my ovary the size of a grapefruit when I was in hs. They went in to drain it and it turned out it was solid. The surgery sucked, but now I know that when some thing in that area doesn't "feel right", it's a cyst! In fact, I had one when they did my PET scan last week! I'm excited to start my first chemo treatment tomorrow! Yes, chemo sucks, but the cancer is causing me pain and I want it to be gone!!! Fuck cancer!!
Oh goodness! That sounds horrible! I hope it isn't anything solid, but if it is, I just hope they will carefully remove it. As for your chemo, I really hope that goes well for you! My mom had ovarian cancer when I was younger. She didn't have to do chemo, but had a total hysterectomy and it can still come back. Cancer is a scary thing and I am sorry you have to go through that! Best wishes your way!! @Jells2dot0

    Thank you!

Your cyst should be able to come out lapriscopically even if it's solid. Mine was just too big. I've had a few lapriscopic surgeries before, so if you have any pains from the gas, just have someone drive you around for a bit. Hitting bumps and potholes will loosen it up some!

You are most welcome! And that is good. I know I will be okay. H said he would take off that day to take care of me, so that is good. :)

  • Good Emmy! I've had to have cysts drained before. You're going to be okay. The cyst do cause a lot of pain though.

Jells that is right. Fuck cancer! Sending you tons of love and prayers.
  • Jells2dot0 and @Emmy1493 you both deserve a high five. Fantastic news :)

Thank you ladies! :D Yeah, they cause pain here and there, but more so when I am not taking my BC. I just am excited to hopefully get this under my belt for now!

I truly enjoyed chemo - the procedure, not the after effects.  I got to lie in a reclining chair with a warm (hot from the blanket heater) blanket, and people brought me tea or soda, hot soup, sandwiches and cookies.  For several hours I had no responsibilities at all!  It was lovely. Really!

I just had my five year post-treatment checkup.  My oncologist told me that none of my doctors thought I would still be here.  The odds were not favorable. Ha!  I hope you have the same experience, and will have many years ahead of you.

I started collecting my previously loved Hermes scarves during chemo when my hair fell out.  My hair grew back, and I still love to wear the scarves - just not on my head.

Aww! Thank ya! :D I am not always strong, but really want to take care of myself for me and also for H. My good health means a lot to him and that makes me feel encouraged to try and be strong. It has been a process so far, but definitely worth it!

The only thing is I am not looking forward to those hefty medical bills. I tell myself it's not the issue, and you need to take care of yourself.

I hope I have the same experience, but i'm doing in patient chemo for 5 days. I'm thinking I'll get tired of the hospital food on day one! LOL I'll have me DH sneak in some goodies :)
