Wedding Dress Shopping - Frustrated!

I have had 4 appointments for dress shopping and probably tried at least 30 different dresses. With each appointment, I leave with a new favourite in mind and then spend the time between the next appointment finding reasons it doesn't work for my wedding or for me. So this is the struggle that plays in my head when I'm trying dresses on:

- Mermaid trumpet and fit-and-flare look the best on my body, hug my curves in all the right places. BUT my wedding is in a backyard in Palm Springs so the fabric needs to be light so I don't pass out from heat exhaustion.

- I'm having a really hard time picking between modern and vintage, because there are elements of both in my wedding.

- I know I will find many dresses that look beautiful on me, but I need to find one that looks beautiful on me AND works for the venue. But then I think, screw it, it's my wedding day so if I want I can be over-dressed for a backyard wedding.

- I had a "this is the one" moment with a girlfriend when she was shopping for her dress years ago, so I kinda expected to feel that during my own wedding dress shopping experience but so far, no luck.

I guess I just need assurance from other brides that I'll eventually find something. I came home tonight so frustrated and more conflicted and confused than ever. As much fun as trying different dresses on is, I wish I felt like I was making progress or something.

You didn't mention your budget.  It sounds like you need a destination type dress.  Have you tried Demetrios (Macy's)?  Check the Destination Romance collection.

  • I went through a lot of the same things.

    I tried this dress on:

In my head, it hits the right notes for you.  I LOVED The dress but it didn't fit what I wanted as my wedding look (obviously I haven't forgotten about it).

<<This dress >>I tried on and I remember it was extremely light - I don't think it's what you're looking for.  Maybe narrow down which fabrics feel light and go from there?

Pick the dress you want.  Even though it's a backyard wedding, that doesn't mean you should let your dress dreams go!
