Wedding Party

Insulted sister in law

I have a large bridal party- 8 girls!  I have known these girls were going to be in my wedding way before my fiance and I got engaged.  There is not one person I could cut out.  I told my fiance who I chose after we got engaged and he was happy with my choices.  3 months later, his 17 year old sister is very upset I did not ask her and their other sister (age 25 and married) to be in the wedding. Now my fiance is upset I am not asking them, bringing the total to 10 bridesmaids.  I love them, but I am not that close with them.  I also do not want 10 bridesmaids!  They don't know any of my other friends or my sisters and I'm afraid she only wants to be in the wedding to get a fancy dress and look pretty and important that day.  I already thought they would play a part in the wedding by doing readings at church but apparently this is not good enough. What do I do??  The thought of having 10 bridesmaids is incredibly overwhelming and stressful, but theyare family.....

They can build a bridge and get over it. Your FI can have them stand on his side if it is important to him.

If you decide to have them as readers, maybe get them a nice corsage. Reading is important and an honor.

  • If your fiance wants them in the wedding, they can stand on his side. You get to pick your own attendants.
  • I get wanting to keep family peace, but at the same time, it is pretty immature for FSIL to make a big deal out of this. I was disappointed when my SIL didn't ask me to be in her wedding but I got over it, and didn't tell anyone I was disapointed.
