Hi all -
I have my groom's sister and cousin reading poems at the ceremony. (they are not in bridal party) I am getting them flower wristslets or something... but do I need to also get them gifts?
Think of this gift as any other gift you would give, say like Christmas or Birthday. What do they like? Also, I am NOT a fan of gift cards. They seem to be the "cash gift of the millennium", except you tell the person where she HAS to shop. Find something that will be a lasting memory for that person, of your wedding. Even if it is a bottle of wine for the wine lover, he/she can always keep the empty and use as a vase.
I got mine a gift card to her favorite store. She was thrilled since she was saving up for a vacuum and the gift card made a nice contribution to that purchase.
DH got his a gift card to a trendy local restaurant. We typically go out to eat with them and we knew it was to a place they (reader and spouse) would enjoy.
Wine is always good or a box of chocolates. If you don't know them well you could get products from Bath and Body Works but with a gift receipt in case it is not a scent they prefer.
And instead of corsages we handed each reader a stand alone flower before the ceremony. My reader got a nice white gerbera daisy that matched my bouquet and DH's reader got a cala lily that matched his bout. We thought it was nice to give them something they could take home and put in a vase after and it saved a few dollars in the flower budget.
