Reception Beverages

We are having our wedding on a little ranch out in the country. So refridgeration is limited and practically everything has to be brought in prepped beforehand.

Would it be tacky if we just had several coolers of bottled water / drinks for guests? I'm trying to figure out a way to keep beverages cold, and this seemed to be the easiest way aside from having drinks hauled from the freezer at the cabin to the wedding and reception site.

Would you be offended by bottled water and drinks or cans of pop in an ice chest for refreshments?

Re: Reception Beverages

  • Nope, especially if the rest of your wedding is casual. We used a cheapo plastic kiddie pool filled with ice to keep beverages cold at our wedding.
  • No, I wouldn't be offended, as long as a there were a few different options (water and a few different types of pop) and I didn't have to pay for any of then. I think it's fine, especially since it sounds like you wedding is more casual. If you were having a black tie wedding in a hotel ballroom, coolers would be a little strange, but a wedding at a ranch, no problem!
  • If you wanted to fancy it up a tiny bit, you could transfer the drinks from the coolers into pretty galvanized tubs or something.

But the coolers are perfectly fine!

Something like this would work great for what you're describing, and wouldn't be tacky at all.

  • Maybe have some towels or napkins on hand for people to wipe the drinks down so that dresses don't get covered in water drips? Otherwise, I actually really like this idea
  • I would not be offended by that at all.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • This isn't a big deal at all and I love the galvanized tubs someone posted above.

    This.

We are using these at our wedding which is at a similar setting. I don't think anyone will be offended as long as there are beverages for them to consume!

  • We're doing galvanized tubs with ice and bottled water at our ceremony site. Totally acceptable!

Galvanized tubs are fine.  Just have more ice than you think  you need.  The ice will melt quickly

  • I see nothing wrong with it but love the idea of galvanized tubs and a towel for wiping them down.

  • Galvanized tubs would be great! Really, any cooler would be fine, though.
  • As long as I don't have to pay for drinks, I wouldn't be offended. I think it's fine for casual reception.
  • If you don't want to do tubs, you could wrap coolers in fabric (tablecloths or similar) to make them match your colors.

Not at all! I'd definitely add a few towels for people to wipe off their frosty beverages with, though.
