Bridal Consignment dress shopping?

Hi All,

Just curious to know opinions on buying your wedding dress from a bridal consignment store?  I'm still at least 4 months away from look at/trying on/buying a dress but I recently went to a bridal consignment store with a friend to look for wedding items for her and noticed the huge selection of dresses.

Thanks!

  • My thoughts are that it's a great way to save money.
  • Go for it. As long as you don't have your heart set on a specific dress and have an open mind, I think you could make a really great find.
  • Agree with PPs. Go for it. It's a great feeling to get a dress that you love under your budget.

  • Go for it, I got my dress at a consignment/sample sale bridal store and I found my dress there. Saved 2 grand on it.
  • If I had one near me I would have done it. Just because someone else may have worn it doesn't mean my wedding would look anything like theirs,

I got my dress at a consignment shop - it still had the tags on it and was half the price of a new one.

They had a great selection and variety of styles - they usually try to get dresses from the last 2-3 years so that they're still "in" with current styles.

I planned for us to go to a few consignment shops and then head on to more boutique-y/David's if I didn't find one at one of the consignment shops. We went to one store and it was the 3rd dress I tried on.
