We had a cake consultation on June 1st and the baker said we would be hearing from her in the coming week (by the 7th). We still haven't heard back. I am still interested and I would like to send them an e-mail asking about it but I don't know how to word it. I'm not upset or anything, I just want to know what's going on. Here is what I have so far:

Hello,
My fiance and I had a wedding cake consultation on June 1 for our October 4th wedding at [location]. We are very interested in a cake from [your bakery] but haven't heard back from the baker.

I can't come up with anything to go after that. Please help!!!!

Can you just drop by or call? I feel like since they haven't gotten back to you once, you need to be weary that they might not be super on the ball. I know this is reaching, but as someone who had a vendor who wasn't great at being responsive, keep that in mind.

If you're set on emailing, I think your wording is fine... then maybe add something like this

We were told we would hear back by June 7th, however we haven't heard anything. We are still very interested in your work, so please contact us via email or call XXX by June 21st.

ETA: So I basically wrote what you did. It gets the point across. What you have is fine.

I would add what it is you are after. Is it a price quote?
  • What specific action were you expecting from them? Price quote? More info? Answers to specific questions?

I would say go ahead and call them. But if you really prefer email or don't have a contact to call, I'd take out the part about "haven't heard back from the baker," and add whatever your questions or next steps are.

  • @lc07 @blabla89‌@RebeccaFlower‌ the baker told us she would email us a quote and design. I ended up just adding "please let us know if you are still interested and available".

    Thank you for your help!
