    I love the sequence where they give the engagement party, and Dad is supposed to announce the engagement, but he is so tending bar, he never gets the chance, and nobody cares.
    DH won't let me watch the remake.  He says it still gives him a stomach ache thinking about the costs of a wedding - and he got off easy!

    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    One of my favorites!  Bette is the MOB who wants a big, fancy wedding, but they are a working class family and really can't afford it.  Sound familiar?
