I still think it's a fucking crime to hack off a train from a wedding gown. Vow renewal or not. Go buy an evening gown and be done with it. You are pissing off the dress gods.

I gotta say...I've never been a fan of trains. I never wanted a dress with one. I dunno why, I just never got their purpose or cared much for them.

Of course I'm wearing a red knee length dress from ModCloth so ya know...turns out traditional wedding gown in general...not my thing.

See. That's perfect. I'm perfectly fine with buying a dress without a train. But if you buy a dress with a train, don't chop it off. Part of the dress cost is that train. A day I think in most cases, cutting off the train changes the overall shape of the dress. It doesn't flow right and looks unfinished. There are a lot of dresses that were designed to not have a train. OP should buy one of those.
  • There was no restraining order involved, I was making mention of your comment in the post you made about my blog post. And while yes, I was having an episode, people write about their hard times and profit off of them. Some of the best stories come from that type of situation. Some of the greatest stories are about people's "crazy". I chose to write about something raw and emotional and many many people came and commented and held my hand. I still think you crossed a line from making a comment that was possibly hurtful to flat out "cyber bullying" (which is ridiculous so I use the term quite loosely) by actually seeking out something to use against me. Though I give you credit for navigating my site so quickly.

I'm still a little "butt hurt" whatever that means I never understood, that some of you ladies are still coming into this post saying vow renewals are AWing and one step above a PPD but then still getting offended that I said two fancy weddings is probably enough for one person. So I guess everyone has an opinion and certainly very few know how to keep it to themselves (including me).

I still apologize for hurting anyone's feelings of course. For now I'll remove my blog from my signature because it's apparently quite an issue for many people and it really isn't that big a deal for me. I left it in my signature in the beginning because I really did want you all to know it was there so you could enter my contests and such. I give away some great things at times. I also talk about fun things and in general it's just a neat blog. It wasn't mean to be a place to whore myself. Basically it's a big part of my identity.

    Anyway, sorry again.

  • Our church had a service for any couples that wanted to renew their vows. None of us wore wedding dresses or had attendants. There was coffee and pastry hosted afterwards. To me it was a way of saying I would marry him again in a second. The bonus is our daughter got to witness all of that love and commitment everyone had.
  • I don't have a huge problem with vow renewals if they are private. My parents (now married 30 years) did so for their 10 year anniversary. They took a second honeymoon to Hawaii, my mom found a little white beachy dress, and renewed her vows just the two of them at sunset. A few people walked by and my parents asked if they would take a few photos. The photos are lovely. My parents looked so happy.

Other than that I say anniversary party all the way! Which is what I am now planning for them for their 30th :)
  • A wedding dress, is after all, just an expensive dress.  We associate them with weddings, but...  styles change.  Definitions change.  Wear what you want.
