Wedding Shoes Help Needed

I've stated before in previous posts that accessorizing is (unfortunately) not my greatest strength. I received my wedding dress a couple of weeks ago and really need to take it in for the official fitting and alterations consultation (I am only 5'2", so it will definitely need to be hemmed) however, I've yet to pick out my shoes and really have no idea where I want to go with that. I would very much welcome thoughts and suggestions from those of you that are more stylish than I! :)

For reference: The wedding ceremony will take place outdoors with the reception being held inside a heated barn. Our date October 25th and we live in Indiana, so it will likely be chilly. My bridesmaids have all opted to go with brown western style boots with their (also brown) dresses. We're very much playing on fall color scheme -- a lot of neutral tones (brown, ivory, etc.) with accent colors of red, orange, and yellow.

I don't have any great pics of my in the dress, so the store listing can be found here: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Cap-Sleeve-Lace-Over-Satin-Gown-with-Illusion-Back-9T3299?cm_vc=HPTVZ1

Re: Wedding Shoes Help Needed

  • Wedges!  No worries of heels sticking in grass!
  • You can go with whatever color you want. I think going with something else besides a traditional bridal shoe allows you to show some more of your own personality. Get something you can wear all day because else you will be carrying your dress. I only wore 2 inch heels for the ceremony & the put flats on for the reception. That made my dress two inches two long and I had to lift it for walking and dancing.

Good points! I'll definitely stick with a little bit of a heel then! I'd originally (prior to getting my dress) thought that red heels would be fun. I just love my dress so much -- I'm worried it might take away from it lol. Is that weird?

    It's getting so close!! :)
  • If you've already purchased your shoes, did you just purchase a few a couple to try at home & return or did you actually take the dress in with you? I don't plan on getting my shoes from a bridal store.
  • Very gorgeous dress!! It's similar to mine and I personally think a lace dress goes better with a textured shoe like a suede rather than satin. I'm wearing these, they are Jessica Simpson got them on clearance for only $30 lol

  • I hadn't even thought about a textured shoe. I will have to check it out! :)
  • I am having a classic vintage tea party outdoor wedding and I just bought my heels. They are a snakeskin blue toe and heel with leopard and zebra printed overlays on the sides. I had picked some champagne coloured bridal store heel, but decided that I needed some Jazz to show off.

If you want a red heel go for it!
