HOLY TOLEDO: LINGERIE!

So I've been on the hunt for lingerie lately, specifically a peignoir because H described what he'd like and that's the closest I can find to it. ;)  That stuff is so expensive!  I found a Huffington Post list of seven sites.  It included Nordstroms and Gap Body and stores other than what you'd think of like Victoria's Secret.  It mentioned La Perla.  So I went on there and their babydolls are like $500!!!!  I was talking to H the other day, and he said it's so funny how the less fabric you have, the more expensive it gets.  I normally buy from Frederic's of Hollywood because it's so cheap, but they don't have a peignoir-type robe.

I cannot BELIEVE how expensive lingerie is!  And just bras in general. It's insane!

  • Confession: I had to google search what a peignoir is.

Bras in general are expensive, but if you take good care of them (and your size doesn't change!), they can last a good while. I think I've had most of mine for about 5-6 years, though I usually supplement my stash everyone once in a while - VS semi-annual sale, what-what! I'm pretty averaged sized, though, and having a weird shape could lead to crazy expensive undergarments.

I've only bought lingerie once; it was just a comfy, semi-sexy sleep set from Adore Me. It kind of irks me that I can't try anything on before buying, but the free shipping and returns, plus the VIP discounts are nice. Maybe I'll get something more once it gets closer to the wedding day ;)

  • I had to google it, too. I used to hit up Burlington Coat Factory of all places. Sets were like $12-15 so I wear them a couple times, then toss them. I've always felt like it's weird to just keep wearing the same pieces since it's not longer a surprise? I don't know my logic haha! Plus, I didn't care if they got ripped.

Haha, yes, La Perla is expensive.

Then again, I think VS is pricey, so I'm cheap to begin with.

My goal in life is to have one piece by then. Even if it's just stockings.
SAME, HOLY CATS.  Just one pair of stockings.  Just one thong.  They always have those "surprise sales" of 50%-80% off, but they always seem to happen when I just can't spend the money!!

I have used brayola.com and herroom.com before and they were decently priced and good.

Yea, peignoirs are generally like that @beethery except they are usually slightly sheer.  I did find this one that I kind of like. \/  Except H would prefer long, and I can't find ones that I like.

    image

And I did like this one too, \/ but I'm not sure it'll close all the way.  Although H might like that.  :D

ETA: These two aren't too expensive, about $70-$75 from Nordstroms, but still a little steeper than I'd like.  I prefer my lingerie $30-$40 apiece.
  • Only request from DF is that it looks good on the floor. Thanks dear, that's helpful...
H too.  He has a couple things he's mentioned a couple times (like the peignoir), but he honestly would just as soon I be naked.  Although he does tend to go after me a bit more if I'm in lingerie getting into bed rather than nothing at all.

I get pounced fastest if I'm walking around in one of his shirts. Mostly because I get snarly if a bra is ruined (they start around $60 for my size) and he doesn't care if he ruins his shirt.

Though workout shorts and a bra works to distract him.

Can I just say as a true hourglass, it's not that fun. High waisted anything needs major alterations. Low rise is my best friend because I'm not trying to fit my size 8 waist and size 12 hips at the same time. Button down shirts are evil. If it fits my boobs and butt, it's baggy in my waist usually.

@RebeccaFlower I've bought some there before. Love the prices but its tough if you have big boobs (I have a "medium" body with D's). If I dig through the racks though, and try enough on, I can usually find something!

I think most (if not all) men prefer this...  however, my FI has stated several times that he likes lingere because "it's like unwrapping a pretty Christmas present in pretty paper".
I can get behind that 。◕‿◕。

  • I'm waiting for Claire Pettibone's Heirloom collection to be available, but I doubt it's going to be affordable :(
  • FI likes lingerie, but he said it's pointless to spend lots of money on it because it's only going to be on for a couple of minutes anyway.  LOL

  • Heck, some items wind up in the trash can. I'm not sure if that's a ringing endorsement or a hint to not wear something similar.
  • I just want to say I am so jealous of you girls. My husband never notices if I wear lingerie, or if I'm what naked or my boobs are up to my chin. Ever. On our honeymoon, I was walking around our room in a short, sheer nightdress and his eyes stayed glued to the tv. The other night, after a 7 week dry spell I put on a low cut red chemise that looks awesome on me and tried to be affectionate with him. He was more interested in the computer. He wants me to initiate sex more, but short of just grabbing his penis I don't know what he wants from me. I would have the confidence to try if he would just effing notice me. He's certainly never pounced on me.

It's a shame, because I love lingerie, and now owning and wearing it just depresses me.

We don't have a television in our bedroom. Obviously everyone's different, but I prefer our bedroom to be for sleeping and other activities, so not having the TV in there makes it a lot easier to share those moments.
  • I've seen lots of robes like that at Penney's and Macy's, believe it or not... might be worth it to check there?

I googled peignoir. For some reason, I have no idea why, but it made me think of Inara on Firefly. She doesn't really wear a robe, ever, as I recall. I think it's the sexy and tastefulness of a peignoir set.

I need to get more matching sets of undergarments. H likes matching sets and I have none.
