Florist on the cheap...

Hi all,

I am looking for a very reasonably priced florist.  I have a really, really small budget.  I am not looking for anything over the top or extravagent.

Any and all suggestions would be great!

I did DYI.  It was very easy for the centerpieces.  Bouquettes were pretty easy too, but corsages and bouts were pretty putzy.  I got flowers from flowersandfreshness.com and fiftyflowers.com.  Fiftyflowers has pre-bundled centerpieces, all you have to do is cut to the right length and drop into a vase.  I wrote a more detailed review on the Flowers board if you are interested.

We used samsclub.com for flowers.  We ordered all of the flowers and then the florist made my bouquet and the bouts and mom's flowers.  We used blue hydrangeas and said that we could get them cheaper than she could sell them to us.  We made the centerpieces ourselves.

I am using Simply Glamorous Designs which is a flower lady that does it out of her house. She is very good and I have been very impressed with the ideas she has come up with. She has come up with ideas that I didn't even think of. She has been very reasonably priced as well compared to actual flower shops. Not sure if you are in the Madison or not where she is based out of. You can check out her site at http://www.simplyglamorousdesigns.com. She is a good choice if you want to save on the expense without doing the flowers yourself.

I'm not sure if this is possible where you live, but I am getting my flowers from a vendor at the Farmers Market. He'll have all of the bouquets and bouts made up the day of. Someone will have to pick them up and we'll have to wrap the bouquets in ribbon ourselves. To give you an idea, I'm getting a bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, 11 bouts, 4 corsages and a tossing bouquet for under $350. He sells flowers to some of the high-end florists in Madison (like daffodil-parker), but since we're buying them direct, we have a huge savings!

Bethc28 - do you have the contact information for this person at the Farmer's Market?  I would also be interested in a cheap florist, as I am going to do very simple and minimal flowers, but don't have the motivation to do it DIY style.

Bloom floral in in Wauwatosa was the cheapest full service florist I found and Laurel is top notch in her design.  I would compare her with the best floral shops in the city.  She works out of her home and is super accomodating to any budget type.  You can look her up online www.bloom-laurelflan.com

You can also find her on Facebook.
