Do you wear a watch?

My watch is too ugly to go with my engagement ring, so I've been taking it off when I go out... But I've been wearing a watch on my left wrist since I was a pre-teen, so I feel naked without it!

My problem is that I'll only wear a digital watch.  The one I wear now is a big man's watch, so I realize it has to go.

Do you wear a "feminine" digital watch?  What kind is it? I need some inspiration!

P.S. Is there a way to get notifications about replies on TK?  I haven't found it yet, if so!

I wear a Citizen Eco-Drive watch with diamonds, mother of pearl face, and sapphire glass.  It cost a couple hundred dollars, but the sapphire glass has been TOTALLY worth it - had it for 5 years now and there's not a scratch on the face at all, and I wear the watch daily, hiking, biking, you name it.  Citizen watches have rarely let me down, and I love that this one doesn't need a battery.

ETA: Duh - missed the part about digital.  disregard my blabbering!

  • Ah sorry I can't help. My watch is non-digital. I think you should look at places like amazon and overstock. They have a huge selection and they have tons of different price ranges. Mine cost 30ish. I've seen a lot of pretty digital watches from them!

  • No watch wearing for me!

  • I wear a regular analog watch, so I'm not much help either. But I love my fancypants watch (Rolex with diamonds and mother of pearl face) and my everyday watch (Fossil with rhinestone bezel and band).

  • I wear what's probably considered a pretty masculine watch with my e-ring, but it is analog.

  • I did a google image search for "woman's digital watch" and some pretty cute ones popped up like a Nike one.

Why don't you try one with a normal face? I actually saw a study on those digital speedometers that some cars have and they said people took longer to register the speed in their brain than when they used a normal speedometer. It registered faster being able to see the hands pointing at a certain spot than to read the numbers. The study said this was bad because your eyes were taken off the road longer to look at the numbers and comprehend them.

So anywho, I think you should try a cute analog one! I have a white Fossil that's a knock off of the expensive one Sandra Bullock wears in The Blind Side. But I actually never use it to tell time, I wear it about once a month purely as a pretty bracelet hahaha

@jenna8984, I hadn't really considered analog for a couple of assumptions that may not be right, besides that I assume it will take me longer to register the time.

I wear my watch all the time, including sleeping and in the shower, so I wanted it to be water-resistant.

I've also come to depend on the indiglo light for the numerous times I wake up in the night to see how soon I need to get up, and if it's early enough that I can go to the bathroom without the dogs insisting on getting up!

I also would prefer to not have a metal band, because I work/type exclusively on a laptop, and I think it will scratch the wrist areas...

I guess I'm just a picky weirdo with bad taste for my watches! haha

ETA: This is the mess I'm working with now:image

Holy crap- I JUST saw this watch on one of my clients!! I love it!

ETA: I was actually going to try to find it online.  So thanks for saving me from several minutes-hours of internet search!!

  • Oh I've never seen anyone wear it to bed and shower. I feel like you'd need a Nike, Swatch, or G-Shock.

It took us all a few weeks to get used to wearing our engagement rings, maybe it would only take you a few weeks to get used to not wearing a watch, or just wearing it during the daytime?

Have a lighted digital clock on your nightstand for bedtime.

Hmmm... I don't think I've seen anything non-metal+digital+light that I would personally consider "pretty" alongside an engagement ring, aside from an $8,000 Gucci. I love the big-face silicone watches, but they're all analog/no light.

    Maybe something like this??

This bad boy is my watch

It was very cheap and has lasted me for three years without needing a battery change or anything.  I wear it to work and have since gotten a tan line/pale spot on my wrist from where the watch usually is.  After today, I'm off until September so, hopefully it will get more tan and blend in with the other arm skin.

This is my TAG watch.  I pretty much wear it 24/7 since xmas of 2008.   It was great for the boat, but stylish too.

ETA - I've never considered a digital watch as stylish.    Except for sport related things I kind-of find digital watches tacky and lazy.     Weird, right?

Do not mean to offend, I guess I'm just old school.

You might like the Phosphor Appear watches.

  • I own two watches.  Here they are:

    image

    image

The fancy one is Anne Klein, and the stainless one is Skagen.  If you don't want to wear a heavy metal band, the mesh on the Skagen might be good for you.  I think it was $110, so pretty reasonably priced.  Mine is about 5 years old and I just paid $40 to refurbish it.  It came back like new.

Maybe you can get used to an analog watch in a few weeks?  I just think they look more professional, and more like regular jewelry.  Although those digital watches with the plain face and metal band posted by a PP were pretty cool.

I do wear a watch but mine is analog. I also don't wear very fancy ones because they would get destroyed. This one is from WalMart and was $10. It is waterproof also. I did have one that was digital, waterproof, and shock proof from Target. But it was lime green and plastic.

  • Here's the picture..not sure where it went.

    I switch between this watch:

And one like this watch, but in gold:

ETA: They go with my e-ring nicely, and my wedding bands will be rose gold with diamonds so I think the MK watch will still look relaly nice :-)

  • I wear a fancy schmancy non-digital watch (Cartier Panthere) and even I sometimes think it's not fancy enough for my other jewelry! I had the watch first and love it, so I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon. So, I would just find a watch you like and not think twice about it.

  • I don't wear a watch. Sorry. It is the strangest thing. I can only wear a watch for maybe two weeks top and the battery will die.

My grandmother kills analog watches. All she has to do is wear one for three days, and it stops working. Nobody knows why!

Me too. Except I wear a Rolex. I love it because its classic and will never break. For some reason, I have always wanted a big gawdy gold watch. I think they are so fun. But that also wont go with my other jewelry.

I always thoughth digital watches were for working out/ sports.

I really want a classic Cartier tank watch.  I tell myself it's justified because I work in the legal field in NYC, so it's sort of expected.  Maybe I'll get a used one after the wedding.

I've now just started fantasizing about what life will be like after wedding savings are finished.  I'm going on ALL the shopping sprees.

    Fuckin YEEEEESSSSS.

Once the wedding is paid for, I'm buying a new car. It is going to be a good day. I'm going to be married, and have a new vehicle and everything is going to be rainbows and cupcakes and I'll feel like an ADULT.

  • I wanna watch now. I have one that doesn't work, it's just for fashion. Oversized men's watch.

When I did wear watches I wore it on my right wrist. Is that weird? Are all of you wearing your watches on your left wrist?
  • I wear a simple gold watch with my E ring and wedding ring. at first I wasnt sure if the yellow gold looked weird with my white gold rings but I wear a ton of the chunky jcrew style gold jewelry so whatever :)

Also, there are a lot of cool designery digital watches out there. The ones Lolo posted are awesome!

but I think having a classic analog watch is a nice sophisticated look that wouldn't go out of style.

This November, I will have had my watch for 10 years. I always look at new watches, but I cannot bring myself to part with the one I have. It's a part of me. It's just a gorgeous, classic, well built watch.

This also makes my DH very happy because other than my rings, I do not wear any other jewelry. So, if I don't want a new watch, he is off the hook for any jewelry for the rest of my life! LOL

  • When I cleaned out my late mother's apartment, I found more than 40 watches, most of them with dead batteries.  I kept a few, but most of them were not my style.  One was a 14K white gold and diamond Swiss watch, engraved on the back from her ex-husband, so she never wore it.  It keeps lousy time.  I really prefer my simple Timex.
