My dress

I bought my dress from davids bridal however I'm not taking my dress there for alterations I'm taking my dress to a local lady that everyone else goes to and rants and raves about and doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

Anyways, I know that I'll need to hem the very bottom layer, the top fits absolutely perfect and if at all possible I'm trying to avoid messing and changing the dress as much as I can and keep the look of the dress that I fell in love with.

Can you give me ideas, can I get by with just heming the bottom few layers?

 I also bought my dress from DB, and had it altered elsewhere. (Mainly because I bought it from the States, and I live in Canada). Although, it was also much less expensive to have it done locally. Mine also fit perfectly, & just needed some minor stuff done. It turned out awesome, and I had no problems whatsoever. If everyone raves about this place, I wouldn't be too worried. Maybe at the most, see if they have a website, where people leave reviews. Be very specific with explaining how you want it, and I'd think you'll be fine.
