What do your shoes look like?

Hey all I am having a heck of a time trying to find shoes for my wedding in November. Everything I have seen so far either look like hooker shoes made from a disco ball or old lady white church shoes. I don't normally wear heels, so I have no idea what I like, however I know heels make you look better in your dress. If I had it my way I would wear uggs, but I am willing to try heels for my mother.

So I want to know what do your shoes look like? Help I need some inspiration!!!

Re: What do your shoes look like?

  • I can't wear heels for extended periods of time anymore, so I tried to find a low-ish heel.  I had a hard time finding the perfect balance of low-heel and embellishment, so ended up getting a pair of shoes with a 2 1/2" heel and put shoe clips on them.

  • I bought miss l fire orient express in blue. They have a nice, thick heel.

But if you don't wear heels, I'd recommend going with a kitten heel or wedge. There is no sense in killing your feet when almost no one will see your shoes.

  • Like @silver0319‌ posted...Nina makes great and reasonably priced wedding shoes. Not sure what your budget is but DSW sells a knockoff badgley mischka line called Audrey Brooke that are nice too. I'm just pointing out the value propositions because if you don't wear heels often, you'll probably never wear them again. Also, if you like something a little more quirky and not so much "bride" shoes...modcloth has some CUTE options. Lastly betsey Johnson blue makes some beautiful shoes but I got two pairs to try on and they tend to cut around the toes IMO.

  • I keep going back and forth with my shoes (and I've bought several pairs).

I got these this weekend: http://www.dillards.com/product/Gianni-Bini-Daizy-Ruffle-TStrap-Wedges_301_-1_301_504244101?df=04179364_zi_silver&scrollTop=1026

They are REALLY comfortable and easy to walk in.  I'm thinking about using them as my wedding shoe as I know there will be walking and a little bit of uneven ground.

If you're not comfortable with heels, you could try a wedge option.  Or stick with a kitten heel or lower heel.  If you're OK with your dress dragging and getting dirty on the bottom, depending on your venue, you could always change into flats for your reception.

  • Heels are overrated. If you don't normally wear them, get flats. I do wear heels regularly; these were my wedding shoes.

I thought for sure I knew which shoes I'd wear: a 3.5" nude colored pump. I wear heel all of the time so that wasn't the issue.

However, when I ordered my dress, the length we order was supposed to accommodate me in 3-4"heels. Well, the dress comes in and the highest I could get away with is 2.5". Yeah, I don't like heels under 3". Now, I'm contemplating cute sandals even though my wedding is in December.

I had three pairs of shoes for my wedding. And, yes, one pair was a glittery disco ball explosion. That said, you don't automatically look better with heels. Some dresses are fine with flats, and remember with most dresses you can't see the shoes anyway. Find something comfortable, that's really the key. If you are certain you want heels, go with PP and get kitten heels, they are smaller and won't take as much adjusting to if you are someone who never wears heels.

ETA:  These have Nike Air technology and are super comfy.

  • These are the shoes that I am looking at buying: https://www.shopheylady.com/details.php?products_id=137 I can't do heels so I was looking for something that could be bridal but something that could be worn again with say skinny jeans or to other events.

  • I'm wearing plain purple ballet flats. I figure no one is going to be able to see my shoes, anyway.

  • I am surprised to see all these other ladies wearing low-no heels for their big day!

I perfer higher heels but I wanted to be comfortable so I got these badboys... and I love them.

  • Here are mine. I also don't wear heels over 2 inches. I love them!

  • I have wide feet, so it's hard to find shoes, since the options are limited. I wear heels very regularly, but I REALLY don't want my feet to hurt too much at the wedding--I'm trying to keep my heels to about 2-2.5 inches. That way I'll still feel fancy in heels, I won't be too tall, and my feet shouldn't hurt too much.

So far, these are what I think I'm going with. It's in November, so I kinda want a closed toe. I also have a habit to go overboard with pops of color, so want to keep to something silver (my dress is white with silver beading). The heel is 2.25 inches.

I'm planning to get a second pair of shoes, "just in case". I want wedges that more securely strap to my foot. If my "good shoes" are bothering me, I can change for the dancing portion of the night. I've found these which fit well, but I don't like their silver option. I just ordered them in white, which will hopefully be close to the color of the dress. The heel is 2.5 inches, so it will be fine if I have the dress tailored to the other shoes, and then switch to these. Honestly, for dancing I'd rather the dress be a tad short than a tad long, so I don't step on it!

Sorry for the momentary hijack, these are so cute! where are they from?
  • I also don't like heels , but I wanted them anyway, so I'm doing heels for the ceremony and switching to flats. I also wanted to have my shoes be my something blue, so I just found the perfect shoes and decorated both pairs.
  • Wow, sorry all of my pictures are upside down! Don't know why that happened...
  • @JasperandOpal, they were from ModCloth, but last year. So I don't think they're available anymore. They're made by Chelsea Crew.
  • https://www.veryfineshoes.com/S9216BD8DarkTanSatin  two inch strappy dancing shoe with suede bottoms so its easy for dancing without being too slippery. My wedding will have fall colors so I chose that copper color.

I had a hard time too. All the shoes out there are make for strippers. The ones that are lower are usually ugly or they have rubber on the bottom. You cant dance well if you cant slide your feet. Try ballet/dance stores and ask for ballroom shoes.

  • I can't wear heels because I had spinal fusion surgery in October. So, I'm wearing ballet flats and having them dyed lavender, the color of my bridesmaids' dresses. I don't know if anyone will see them, but I'll know they're funky. :)

I'm tall about 5'8" and FI is only a little taller than me so I had a really difficult time finding shoes for my wedding as 1. I'm a total klutz I maim myself more than once a day and heels just make me look more like an awkward giraffe than a graceful gazelle. 2. I really don't want to be taller than FI 3. I wear converse everyday. I haven't had heels on in months so I'm not super comfortable in them.

I tried looking at lots of places and ended up at a Famous Footwear wear I bought these they're super comfy but I still bought the gel inserts. image

Mia ballet flats in Blush. I got them for about $15 on 6pm. I'm 5'2", my FI is 5'4", so I wanted to be shorter than him because I like it :) Plus, I'll be comfy all day! (Eta, typos)
  • I bought a pair of ivory heels from David's and then did a little blinging out of them myself. I was so picky about what I wanted but I knew I wanted something a little special without being over the top. The shoes there were surprisingly comfortable for the price fyi.
