It's a SHORT WEEK!

...and it really couldn't feel and loooooooonger to me! I actually stopped at Starbucks for a coffee this morning because I already need an energy boost to face this day. I'm so ready for a long weekend. So tell me about your plans. Traveling? Plans for the 4th? What are you looking forward to this weekend?

H and I are driving down to CO Springs to visit @LunarSongbird and her hubby. They have an Aussie too, so we're bringing Remi with us and staying overnight. I think we're planning to have a BBQ and watch the fireworks from their house (No traffic and crowds and apparently they have a GREAT view). Saturday morning we're going to hit up a local farmer's market and go for a hike. Should be a great time.

OH - and my mom gave H an ice cream maker for his b-day last week...so I think we may have to plug that sucker in and make something. Especially since it's supposed to be in the mid 90's this weekend! Any suggestions on what flavor our first batch should be? What's your favorite ice cream?

Re: It's a SHORT WEEK!

  • It's a short week for me too, but I already had the vacation part. Yesterday was holiday here (Canada Day), and I took Monday off as well so I had a long weekend full of engagement party and cottage and dock drinking and general fun times with my family and FI and his family.

So today is my Monday, and that really blows lol

@allusive007 I would make some sort of berry or fruit ice cream. All the delicious summer fruit is just ASKING to be turned into a tasty treat! Or something crazy, like bacon caramel.

  • @allusive -OMG Ice cream makers!!! I love homemade ice cream! I love coffee ice cream and my next favorite would be cheesecake or sweet cream!

I'm so ready for a long weekend. I wasn't feeling very well this morning and I'm really sore from CrossFit. I think I pulled a muscle in my shoulder yesterday. H has to work until Friday so I'll be alone tonight, tomorrow, and Friday. Friday morning my family and I run the Peachtree Roadrace every year. I hope to beat my time last year of 1:02 (an hour and 2 minutes). My goal is get under an hour. It's a 10k and there are around 60,000 runners so it's difficult to get a good start when everyone is in your way.

Afterwards I'll probably just hang out with the family the rest of the day and go watch some fireworks. We also have a wedding on Saturday so we will be doing that for most of the day since the ceremony is a full Catholic mass and then they have the reception later that day. I think it's two hour gap in between. Sunday is my mom's bday so we will be busy preparing for that during the day. My little sister and I will bake a cake and probably cook dinner for her.
  • I think an ice cream maker needs to be my next purchase. That sounds fun! My favorite ice cream is anything involving chocolate. I loooooove B&J's Phish food...and almost every other flavor. Anything with fudge or brownie chunks is alright with me :)

I am so glad its a short week!! I wish every week was a four day week :)

My dad is coming into town tomorrow night and is taking FI and I out to eat which is very nice.  I'm excited that he's coming up! I hope my mom is feeling well enough to come with him but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Friday we are sleeping in and I am so excited about it!! We've been so busy this past month so we both need a day to just sleep in and relax for a bit.  Around 4:30 that afternoon we are having some friends over for a cookout and will let off some fireworks. Then around 8 we are heading to the reservoir near our apartment to watch the fireworks.  They close off the bridge so we can sit on it and watch the fireworks over the reservoir.  There's also a ton of vendor there. I love fireworks.

We're putting out application into a townhouse we really like on Saturday. We also need to look for FI and his GM's attire. I'm hoping to get some RSVPs back this weekend too!

  • The weather is supposed to be cooler, so I'm hoping to get a ton of cycling in this weekend (not that anybody in the US but me cares, but Tour De France starts this weekend, so I hope it'll motivate me to get my butt on the open road).  Loki does not do well with fireworks, and I'm sure the festivities will start Thurs evening - so we're in for a LONG weekend.  In the evenings, we'll probably bunker down and just watch movies and try to keep Loki calm.

This week has been dragging!  It seems like everybody is trying to fit a 40+ hour week in 3-4 days!

@Allusive007 - I have an ice cream maker I have never used - Thanks for reminding me!!  YAY!!!  I think I'm just going to do plain ol' vanilla and get a bunch of toppings for FI and I to doctor up our Ice Cream.  Please try to get some pictures of the Aussie play date!!

@SourtherPeach89 - Good luck on your race!!

  • @ImCooper86 - Sorry today is your Monday. No fun! Glad you had a great holiday weekend though!

@Southernpeach89 - I love coffee ice cream too. That might be a contender! Hope your 10K goes well...I think anyone that runs by choice is awesomesauce because I am NOT  a runner.

@severmille12 - YAY for sleeping in! It really is the best. Crossing my fingers for your townhouse and mens wedding attire search. I can't wait until your big day...I want to see pics STAT!

  • @allusive007 I love peach ice cream. My dad and I used to make it a lot during the summer. Om nom nom.

No plans yet for the weekend... haven't thought that far ahead!

  • @weewittlewizabeth - mmmm....peach. That may have just moved into No 1!
  • @Dignity100 - Vanilla is a great 'tried and true' option! Maybe I can find some actual vanilla beans. I'll try to remember to snap a couple Aussie play date pics! (I'm horrible about taking pics)

  • @Allusive007 MMMM Ice cream! That's all I've got I love all flavors.

This week is dragging for me too. We are having a huge party on Saturday and BF and I are starting to freak out about it. I sent a FB invite and there are about 50 people who have not RSVP'd. I wrote a post yesterday asking everyone to RSVP for food purposes and not many did. It's kind of frustrating, but what are you going to do. I am trying to make a head count as best I can with what I know of people.

My best friend came by last night to help me organize and get everything together. This is the first party I've ever thrown and I am freaking out that I don't have enough. What do you even need? We are going to BJ's tonight to get burgers and dogs, buns and chips. We have paper goods and utensils. I still feel like I am forgetting everything!!!

  • Yay for short weeks! I found out this morning that we have an early close tomorrow so my week will end at 2pm :)

I'm really looking forward to not having to do much this weekend. We'll watch the fireworks on Friday and on Saturday we're going to a minor league baseball game nearby because they're having Seinfeld Day and H and I absolutely LOVE Seinfeld. Should be a good time!

I want to eat all the things right now.

  • Short week, short weeeeekkk!!

FI & I are having dinner tonight with one of my BM's and her BF - it's so hot that we're just going to order in and drink aaaallll the wine.

Tomorrow I HAVE to come in for a meeting (UGH), and then I'll skip out early so we can pack up and head to Maine. Fiveish hours in the car (vibes for no traffic, please), and then a lovely weekend with my fam!

Friday we'll probably find somewhere to watch some fireworks and grill out, because, it's the Fourth, DUH.

Saturday, my mom, my sister, and I are going to go shopping for a MOB dress, because my mom is SO EXCITED.

Sunday, back home, with everyone else who goes to Maine for the Fourth, so I'll probably do a lot of bitching and complaining about traffic.

  • @allusive007 - Mmmm ice cream!

@Swazzle - Seinfeld? Really? :-( I could never get into Seinfeld, no matter how hard I tried. His voice annoys the ever loving shit outta me.

@GoldenPenguin - EEEK! You said FI. :-D This still makes me giddy. Also, enjoy your weekend in Maine.

I'm SO thankful for a short week. I'm feeling a bit off this week, so the long weekend will be nice. We planned to go to the beach on Friday during the day, but the "group" has dwindled significantly, so we may be rethinking that plan. We have a birthday party on Saturday and working church on Sunday. Other than that, no big plans!

I have a short week too and I'm hoping we get to leave early tomorrow too but we'll see if they let us.

Thursday we're supposed to go to a friend's house for a bbq and fireworks but there's a 90% chance of rain for tomorrow so I don't know if we will go or not.  Saturday we are having a bbq at our house with a few friends, looking forward to hosting.  Not sure what else we have planned.  May be some granite countertop shopping.

ETA: I'm lactose intolerant so no more ice cream for me.  I love cookies and cream though that is my favorite.

  • My mom went home today so I'm chilling here watching abc family shows and making sure my medicine is taken. Dad wants to come visit this weekend so mom will be back with him probably Friday. I want to go to a concert on the beach and them fireworks but that will depend how I'm feeling and whether I'm able to wear real shorts yet lol. I wore yoga pants yesterday so that's an improvement from PJ pants. I'm not sure what else the weekend will bring. Maybe a crockpot meal cause it's easy...
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • Short week! Feels like it, too - it's like I'm leaning forward to ski jump into Friday, and I don't care if it's July, I'm using that metaphor.

FI, my mom, and I picked cake last night! She came along to help organize us which is always welcome. We decided on three flavors: chocolate with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate buttercream icing, amaretto with caramel filling and ivory buttercream icing (SO FREAKING GOOD), and pink champagne with raspberry mousse and ivory buttercream icing.

Today I'm running my reactor yet again, and rapidly running out of my supply gases. My fund manager is going to love the PO I give him asking for more stuff. Oh well.

This weekend FI and I are going to visit his dad - it's his dad's birthday on Saturday and for once we have a 3-day weekend and the ability to travel a little for it. Otherwise I don't think we have much going on.
  • @GoldenPenguin - I can't wait until I get to go to Maine! I'm going to eat 27 lobsters while I'm there.

@Ollie08 - Yep! We both watched it regularly when it was still on TV and now we watch the repeats a few times a week!

  • OH, and @allusive007 - I vote for coffee ice cream with Oreo pieces. YUM.

  • @twodimes, I didn't update the venue situation? Silly me! Yeah, I sorted it out. It's a hotel meeting room/conference room thing. Closer to the ceremony venue than the other (I say this in a town where you can literally drive from one end to the other in 5 minutes), and decent included perks.

There's an ice cream place here that does it - I never would have thought about it either, but it makes it into a mocha-y deliciousness. NOW I WANT ICE CREAM!!

I'm so glad it's a short week! Today is my Friday. My supervisor is taking Thursday and Friday off so I am too. Tomorrow BF and I are going to celebrate my birthday which I'm super excited about. We're gonna go to the Botanic Gardens which I've never been to so that should be fun.

We might go watch fireworks with some friends tomorrow night. Random places in Colorado are doing their fireworks on the third.

On the 4th we are going to a friend's BBQ. I still need to figure out what I'm going to take.

As for the rest of the weekend, I'd like to do some hiking, maybe St. Mary's Glacier.

ETA: Oreos in coffee ice-cream sounds amazing!

Another ETA: @KeptInStiches - OMG, your cake choices sound SO good!

  • @keptinstitches Damn that's some good cake.

  • @allusive007 - Thanks! I'm super excited that the glass sculpture exhibit is there right now. It looks awesome!

  • This is seriously the longest short week EVAR! Lets see I'm hoping for early release tomorrow...that would be awesome! Friday I am hitting the gym with my GF's and then spending some time with the hubby...he has to work at 5pm boooo but I'm hoping he gets off a little early. I'm going with friends to a small downtown area to watch the fireworks in a park. Saturday gym again and then coffee with the girls. Saturday night we are going to a wine bar for a birthday celebration. Sunday will be grocery shopping and getting ready for NEXT weekend which is a 4 day weekend at the lake house!
